ymc226 Posted August 6, 2024 Share #1 Posted August 6, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) What would be possible sources for M9 batteries. I called the US Leica Boutiques which have none in stock and could not tell me if they are going to be restocked. It shows no longer available on B&H which usually means discontinued. Also, some of my original M9 batteries show an error when initially put into the Leica charger but can be successfully charged after being "jump started" by initially charging using a Delkin double charger. What does this mean?

Timmyjoe Posted August 10, 2024 Share #5 Posted August 10, 2024 I've been struggling with this same thing for the last month. Would love to be able to find original Leica batteries, but have had no luck. I just got a couple of these to try: CS Replacement Battery for Leica BM8, M8, M8.2, M9 14464 The plastic around the electrical contacts has a bit of flash, so you need to push the battery firmly into the charger and the camera the first time, but after that, they seem to work okay. Best, -Tim

DennisPT Posted August 20, 2024 Share #7 Posted August 20, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Call me silly, I bought 4 used original Leica batteries, costed almost double to the replacement ones. At least my M9P will be happy for another 2-3 years.
TomB_tx Posted August 20, 2024 Share #8 Posted August 20, 2024 I've only used Leica batteries in my M9 (&10), but even though I have two M9 batteries still doing fine I found one of these on Amazon for under $20 USD, so bought one to test. It needed charging as received, but charged fine and seems to work fine in the camera. M9 batteries have always impressed me with their ability to hold change while unused, both in camera an stored separately. So I charged both this new clone and an original and will compare how they hold a charge over time.
DennisPT Posted August 21, 2024 Share #9 Posted August 21, 2024 The original batteries I used have only failed me twice, both end up expanded and won’t fit into the battery compartment. I still have one that came with my first M9 (used) in 2016 and is still working (of course capacity of holding charge have decreased). That’s why I stick with original ones. Sorry to be off topic. mujk Posted September 4, 2024 Share #10 Posted September 4, 2024 My local Leica dealer seems to have a few M9 batteries in stock. Because my two original batteries have started to show signs of aging I decided to buy a new one - not cheap. It was practically empty when I received it, but seems to have charged OK. These batteries don't have a serial number, but some of them has a four digit code and a letter (P). If this is the manufacturing week, my new battery was manufactured almost exactly a year ago. irenedp Posted September 5, 2024 Share #14 Posted September 5, 2024 i brought the M9 with two batteries for a vacation in Berlin -not professional work-. This afternoon, the first battery, charged to 90%, died in minutes and the second one which had been charging yesterday for almost two hours shows only 25%. So I guess i will have to take a trip tomorrow to the Berlin Leica Store, hope they have an original Leica one -these two aren’t- and pray that it is just a bad battery problem and notanything related to the camera electronics. Because this was just a vacation, I thought I would come with only one camera. It happens…

ymc226 Posted September 11, 2024 Author Share #17 Posted September 11, 2024 For follow up I called Leica Washington DC and they were able to check the US boutique inventory giving me some leads. Unfortunately the information was not accurate. Calling Leica Miami which is an independent, they told me they have active orders and get shipments once to twice a year but are not told when. I placed an order on August 7 and am getting my batteries today so about a month.

I placed a pre-order today, and Adam from Leica Miami promptly reached out to let me know there is no ETA. I’ll report back when I receive my batteries. 3D-Kraft.com Posted December 20, 2024 Share #20 Posted December 20, 2024 (edited) I bought this one on Amazon (Germany) and they work as expected: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B002ZDTK1A I assume this "brand" is also offered in other countries. Reviews are also mixed here (but on average better than for other offers), so it's some kind of lottery. Fortunately you still can find offers for M8/M9 which seems to be a better situation than for M10 (at least in the US and Japan) at the moment.
