Any “big batch” (Josh’s term) relative to Leica is, whatever it is. 

He also said they had a backlog of pre-orders over the past few months to be filled (haven’t received confirmation yet my order from 6 weeks ago is being filled yet), so how many over and above those orders, who knows. Must have been minimal extras to sell for them to show it as in-stock at all.

Good to see an apparently newly-made shipment of batteries. There is now hope that Leica will continue to support those of us with 240-series cameras.

To anyone who has ordered a new M240 battery. When you receive it please provide the date of manufacture of the battery when you receive it if that information is provided on the battery. It would be helpful in determining how recent these are still being produced.

Very difficult to hunt one down in Hong Kong, no matter brand new or used.

I just bought a BP-SCL2 with manufacturer stamp 4823VB at the local Perth Australia Leica dealer, which has multiple in stock.

 

I've had a long business relationship with with the dealer owner, who has been involved with Leica for 30+ years.

He confirmed that the current BP-SCL2 stock are "ordered as parts" and will continue to be available for quite some time.

AFAIK the battery is made by Varta and Leica said it is available as spare part. I got mine this way, the battery had no package else than a plastic bag though.

Does it seem to be working as expected? Same battery life? Does it get hot ?

New battery seems to work the same way as OEMs but i did not compare them sorry.

It is the Leica's spare part number indeed. Varta's i have no idea sorry.
