I'd be more inclined to believe the flash mount before the base cover. Not sure, but I'm thinking base covers are interchangeable in camera versions ie M10/M10D/M10R etc.

IMG_4252.HEIC Also I'm sure that I payed for a M10, no budget now for m10-r Maybe the previous owner installed a firmware for a Leica m10-r on this model.. Something also strange and that's the main reason why I wanted to update the firmware is that I don't have the Leica Photos option in the menu and the GPS is greyed out. Will try to download the new firmware 30.22.23.34 to see if the camera recognise it. If you are really sure that you have a „simple“ M10, the Firmware 30.22.xxx is certainly and definetely wrong. For the M10 it is Leica M10 - Firmware 3.22.23.38. It starts with 3 not 30!!! Though if your present firmware starts with „10“ your camera definetely has no firmware of a „simple“ M10. Please do check again as well your camera model and your present firmware.
Michele Cattani Posted May 15, 2024 Author Share #24 Posted May 15, 2024 On the flash mount of the camera is engraved LEICA M10 as you can see in the picture attached. I tried to download the firmware for the m10 r and now the camera recognises the firmware and propose to update (I haven't updated yet) So, the only explanation I can find is that the previous owner somehow installed a wrong firmware on this camera, I don't even understand how it is possible. Since I bought in a shop, the camera has still a warranty. What would you advise? to update the m10-r firmware or to send it to the assistance? jaapv Posted May 15, 2024 Share #25 Posted May 15, 2024 The most logical explanation is that the camera is indeed an M10R and that someone replaced the flash shoe or possibly the top plate by an M10 one. What is the pixel size of an image?
Michele Cattani Posted May 15, 2024 Author Share #26 Posted May 15, 2024 In that case I could see it from the resolution right?

This M10 with an M10R firmware is faulty so unless your dealer can provide the same with a proper M10 firmware,i would ask for a refund or a replacement. UliWer Posted May 15, 2024 Share #29 Posted May 15, 2024 There is also an entry in the menu which reveals the camera‘s type. Unfortunately I am far away from my M10 to check where you find it. Anyway what‘s the typical size of a DNG-file you get with your camera?

Yes, if it really is a m10r in disguise it should be pretty close to 7864x5200 for DNG images.

jaapv Posted May 16, 2024 Share #34 Posted May 16, 2024 That is legally true but it is wiser to figure it out. If the camera is in reality an M10R the OP has saved a considerable amount of money. Hence my advice to check the camera output to determine the type. If a miracle, it would be easily sorted by Leica.

Michele Cattani Posted May 16, 2024 Author Share #37 Posted May 16, 2024 The DNG file is 5976x3984 pixel, I exclude it's a M10-r dressed as a M10.
UliWer Posted May 16, 2024 Share #38 Posted May 16, 2024 Yes. Now there's the last mystery how the firmware version 10.20.27.20 found the way on your "simple" M10. Does the camera work at all, can you take photos with it? (You should not be able to do so but expect that a "simple" M10 with M10-R firmware was completely bricked). You said you made a reset of the camera but it didn't work. What happened exactly when you made the reset?

What happened exactly when you made the reset? I meant that the update didn't work despite I reset the camera. If I make the reset the camera ask me if I want to keep the user profiles and then it launches the reset normally. Something that I noticed that didn't work is the connection with the App Leica Fotos, there's only a WLAN option and if I try to click on it there's no pairing with my phone. that's why I wanted to update the firmware. Also there's the GPS option which is also greyed out.. A part from that the camera works normally, when I bought it I didn't realise that the firmware wasn't the right one
UliWer Posted May 16, 2024 Share #40 Posted May 16, 2024 You might try to install a previous firmware for the M10 and if this works upgrade to the last one: Welcome, dear visitor!
