kirkmc Posted May 15, 2024 Share #64 Posted May 15, 2024 The iPhone app doesn't show the update for me, and never has. Any idea why that may be?
Q34MCS Posted May 15, 2024 Share #65 Posted May 15, 2024 I updated to V2.0.3 using my SD card without issue. However, after reading earlier posts I too noted that the image file number count was indeed reset. I thought this might be a problem in that existing images with the same file name could risk being overwritten during import. However, my configuration of Lightroom places new downloads into a date-specific folder. Thus, it seems that even if two images have the same file name they will reside in separate date-specific folders. Does this interpretation seem correct or am I missing something? Editing software other than Lightroom may handle file management differently, so this could be an issue depending upon an individual's workflow. I do agree that the image count should not have been reset from the firmware update, nor existing camera setting for that matter.

The iPhone app should always show the update if it is available. If it did not show before, it was a bug. This may mean that either the app or the previous Q3's firmware update fixed the bug. David Wien Posted May 15, 2024 Share #68 Posted May 15, 2024 (edited) I loaded the 2.0.3 firmware from the card, having saved profiles. All went as expected, except that: 1. I could find no means of exiting the date/time setting routine other than turning hte camera off. 2. Although, as far as I could tell, by checking a few things, my user profile was set, the little man was blank. I saved the user profile again and this problem was fixed. After doing so, I have the impression that making changes to settings does not reset the user profile to the standard one, as it used to. I will report further if I discover any other changes have taken place. David Edited May 15, 2024 by David Wien

David Wien Posted May 15, 2024 Share #70 Posted May 15, 2024 Thanks! I wonder why I never found that on p. 56, though I think it might usefully be mentioned on the screen at the time. 😀 David

Sunus Leica Posted May 16, 2024 Share #75 Posted May 16, 2024 I have just updated my Q3 via the Fotos app, everything went well despite the app saying the transfer had failed and the Q3 restated. Everything woking ok, however the file numbering had reset. So as advised on here I reformatted the SD card then loaded the last image I had taken onto the card loaded back in the Q3 took another photo and the numbering was back to where it should be. Simples. Paul
reynoldsyoung Posted May 16, 2024 Share #76 Posted May 16, 2024 Where did you load/place "the last image taken on the card" for it to correct the file numbering? Many thanks!!

If this is still the case then you might want to delete your Fotos app and re-install it. That is just what I would do. Its simple to do and it might help. Before re-installing Fotos make sure that you delete your Q3 (plus maybe your other Leica cameras) in the iPhone under Bluetooth settings: Go to settings > Bluetooth ; there go to Leica Q3 (if it shows up); press onto the i (information) and press on "ignore". If your Q3 is not listed there that is fine and proceed with re-installation. Then pair your devices again.

student Posted May 17, 2024 Share #80 Posted May 17, 2024 It worked out fine from the SD card, albeit with the following glitches on the way: a) I had left the last few images on the card to ensure that the existing numbering order remains, but when the camera was switched on the screen froze into a glow and after 5 minutes I removed the battery as it wouldn't switch off otherwise; b) I then reloaded the software update on the SD card and tried again- same result as before and I switched off the camera by removing the battery; I did feel nervous about the possibility that the Q3 may have been bricked; c) I then removed the images from the card, and the camera updated the software without any problem except that the outcome was similar to a factory reset. I put the issue down to my lack of understanding and my impression that Leica cameras can behave unpredictably, much like human beings
