Instead of having it hang from one shoulder I lengthen the strap and wear it cross shoulder. That makes it safer and also very easy to work out of. https://billingham.com/products/hadley-digital-camera-bag_colour-khaki-canvas-tan-leather If price is no object, the Fogg Lyre (3x price) is the closest equivalent. Fortunately I bought mine 20 or so years ago, at a much lower price, all black and still in great shape. The Fogg b-Laika is the next size up, for 2 M bodies, or for more lenses. My bigger, newer bags (mostly for SL system) are from the Hadley series. But unless weather is an issue, or for car/plane/train transport, no bag for me when shooting. Perhaps not surprising since bee died, plus the pandemic supply issues. And, even before that, US dealers dwindled to a couple of outlets I’m familiar with.. Leica SoHo and Bergen County Camera. I’m sure the reps at either place could enlighten. Jeff
lct Posted May 2, 2024 Share #24 Posted May 2, 2024 Doesn't look like a luxury bag but mine is a 20+ yo K&H camera bag, now PortaBrace, whose current "MS LeicaQ2" could perhaps interest you. https://www.portabrace.com/product-page/ms-leicaq2
Kiwimac Posted May 2, 2024 Share #25 Posted May 2, 2024 Unfortunately, Fogg bags are hard to get new now. They are (or possibly were) made in France by a British couple B and Nigel. Sadly, B passed away recently and it’s unclear if the bags will continue to be made. I had correspondence with B and she seemed lovely and I’m sure Nigel will be devastated. The bags do turn up used on EBay etc periodically. They’re well worth it if you can get one.

The Hadley can certainly take more but I only ever take a camera with a lens out for the day. The rest of the bag is for water bottle etc. I do sometimes store my second lens in the Small though.

willemr Posted May 3, 2024 Share #28 Posted May 3, 2024 I have a Billingham Hadley Small for regular walks. If I need a daypack-like construction I put the Hadley insert in a small Fjallraven backpack (it fits like a glove). Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! For extensive travelling I have a Wandrd Lite or F-Stopper backpack (both water-proof). The f-stopper has more than enough room to store the Hadley (compressed), and Fjallraven backpack (which has no padding by itself). So when on location I can scale down to an appropriate bag configuration. In less safe (or crowded) environments I just wear the Hadley on the front. Smudgerer Posted May 3, 2024 Share #29 Posted May 3, 2024 I just bought yet another Domke, this one: Domke 700-00D F-10 JD Medium Shoulder Bag in Olive. It's perfect, nudged out the Crumpler Proper Roady 2.0 4500 that has been my grab-it-and-go choice for a long time.............Now what to do with the dozen camera bags napping in my gear storage? Wait for the next vide grenier or boot sale I guess, that worked ok last time..........
caf Posted May 4, 2024 Share #30 Posted May 4, 2024 Just treated myself to an Oberwerth Bayreuth for my M11 (with wrist strap) + 2-lens combo, fits perfect if only a bit tight but really like the light weight and non-intrusive vibe from it. have an Oberwerth Wetzlar II also which I use when carrying more stuff, 2 M bodies and 3-4 lenses. Have gone through a whole plethora of bags over the last 20 years and can confidently say the Oberwerth are my favorite ones by far, they're pricy but they're very durable and convenient. Their square-ish shape make it easy to fit either of them inside other bags.

In all three bags, the top corners are a weak spot for rain. For many years now, when I want a new bag, I buy Billingham in a color that I don’t already have😂 I only feel confident with their top flap.
AndrewPiper Posted May 5, 2024 Author Share #38 Posted May 5, 2024 Hi guys.. Sometimes its just better to NOT go looking around this damn forum for advice from all you people as all it does it cause me pain in the pocket!! I would have been quite happy with a ''cheap'' bag/pack for the camera before I asked for advice from you guys..that was then..clearly a mistake! ...LOL The Oberwerth bags are just FABULOUS and I now I NEEDS one..I put one in my shopping cart but after converting the Euro to NZ $ my need has diminished slightly..WOW, they are expensive! Thats not a criticism just stating facts. Ill have a look in the second hand market places I think. Nice to see quality manufacturing exists.
TheEyesHaveIt Posted May 6, 2024 Share #39 Posted May 6, 2024 For a really minimal carry, I have a HEX Ranger crossbody. It fits an M11 with 50 or 35 summilux attached. It also, crucially, is very flat when unpacked which makes it easy to transport in a suitcase (if, like me, you don’t want your travel backpack to be your daily carry). If I need a second lens, I’ve carried it in my coat pocket. I have the Domke F-5XA which has room for an M11 with a lens attached, plus 2 additional lenses and some small accessories. I can fit it into my Peak Design Everyday Backpack so it can be a daily carry at my destination, but usually that’s more than I want to carry while walking around a city. I also have a Billingham Hadley Small Pro, which is a beautiful bag, but not something I’d want to walk around a foreign large city with. Maybe nice for a weekend landscape trip. The Peak Design 6L sling is too big for the M system in my opinion unless you want to carry a bunch of stuff. I’ve contemplated the 3L but it’s a bit “tech” in style for me. The Fogg bags look great but seem to be out of production now. Perhaps a crossbody normal bag with some dividers (the PD ones are great) is the best approach.

One of these days I’ll check one of the US dealers to get an official response. Jeff
