SL 601, SL2 and SL2-S Reporter, used very intensively, never any problems all very good - but in a special way the Reporter SL is more than a camera, it's culture (POV)

SL2, just under two years and has traveled overseas with me on multiple trips...ZERO issues!

SL3, about two weeks and ZERO problems. Firmware update was quick and stress free and all lenses updated easily once installed. I am in the camp of updating cameras firmware without a lens installed...

I shot many weddings with the SL. It was perfectly reliable (which wasn't the case with the Canons it replaced), had great low-light performance, the batteries lasted a long time, and it offered great skin tones without too much fiddling. It also allowed me to use a wide range of lenses, so I could match the look of my images to the clients' wishes.

It might not be optimal for all paid gigs, but for weddings it's near-perfect.

For Samsung Leica Fotos users, take note that after upgrading to Samsung One UI 6.1, the SL3 WiFi can't be paired to the Samsung Phone using 5Ghz.  Have to reduce the band to 2.4Ghz and this slows the transfer speed drastically 😭😭😭

Pass a message to Leica support on the Fotos (if not already done); I would think this will be given priority and be resolved.

Yep me too. Around 300 weddings with a pair of SL's (601). Loved shooting with them and loved the files. So did my clients.

Does anyone else have trouble setting up focus peaking in photo mode? I have it working in video mode and it also shows up in play back mode. The "Liecan" on the right hand side of screen/evf indicates that it should be on but it is not. Touching and holding the Liecan on the rear screen has no effect. I have carefully read the relevant mages in the manual and contacted Leica who said they would get back to me - but have not. May be I have a clash of setting? Anyone any idea?

Umm, they actually are designed for professionals. If you take into consideration the metal build quality, the weather sealing, and the image quality. Decades of professional and iconic work have been created using Leica cameras.

I don't think the Panasonic is ever been marketed as professional.

It has a few downgrades from S1 cameras, to offer a small cheap body. Still offer values.

I would just have 2 SL cameras and call it a day. Better image quality, better viewfinder, more robust!

That’s what I thought until several SL3 owners reported loss of images during professional jobs (e.g. weddings)! As a wedding photographer all these really nice features don’t help if you are loosing images. 
 

Without any statement from Leica my SL2 and M11 (which is also not really reliable for weddings) these two Leica cameras are my last. Currently I am using two Fujis for my weddings (and sometimes the SL2).

if there is a problem it has to be addressed, but I think people already said it was user error, where they pulled the battery when it was still transferring to the card.

I take longer to clear a bigger buffer now with the SL3. I see it even when the camera is connected to a Capture One tethering and use the CF Express card, after pausing shooting photos keep coming in for a min or more.

There is almost no slowdown if you tether without the card, but if you pull power or cable the rest images will be lost.

There were some discussions about possible user errors. But all these potential errors don’t explain a loss of several hours of wedding images in a row. See comments yesterday in the corresponding thread.

I saw does too, if there is a problem it is serious, I have seen on the CF card sometimes not all the folders made in the card appear on the Mac. At one shoot I knew I had more images, so I looked if there was another card in the camera, and it had no images! I went back and inserted the CF card on the Mac and the rest of the images showed up.

Just have to walk back the steps and document to Leica if an issue comes up.

I have been using the SL3 Daily for small to all-day shoots, I use 2  1TB CF cards, and I must be in the 70-80K frames shot in the 2 months.
