On this subject, I would very much like to use my SL2-S with TL lenses in multishot mode. Why isn't this possible?

Why would this be impossible? I have no experience with SL cameras but they can work in crop mode if needed. It's just that the SL2-S sensor is 24mp IINW so in crop mode i guess you cannot get more than about 10mp. Better ask colleagues with more experience than me though.

There is always the Sigma FP. Despite some sites claiming otherwise, it is 60 MP.

Just to confirm 61mp in FpL which results in 26mp images using the TL or the Sigma DC DN lenses and the camera crops automatically. As much as I really like the FpL I would still very much like to see an updated CL please, anybody... Sigma, Panasonic - any chance?

Just ordered an FPL. Do you have advices on the way of using it with M lenses? Just curious.

I find the menu system and operation of the FpL really simple and easy, unlike some camera menu systems there isn't pages and pages of options.  The settings for shooting with M lenses or any other manual lenses are mostly to be found the the 4th Tab of the Shoot Menu when camera is set to Still.  Item one is Focus for Stills, follow that through to 3 sub menu's where you can set Magnification and Focus Peaking.    Other than that I have the Touch Operation setting to On (System Menu - Tab 2) so I can touch the screen to move the focus point/box around, then by pressing centre of the rear dial you can magnify the focus point.  All pretty similar to other camera's just takes a while to familiarise yourself with it.  Not sure if you are getting the EVF-11, I mostly leave it at home, many will say if you are using MF lenses you need it, to me it just makes the camera awkward and bulky.

You will probably have read this but just in case

Will be interesting to hear your thoughts when you've tried it.

I don't expect Leica to invest in a new sensor for a CL-2 unless they anticipate larger volume than before because development costs are very high. If they are considering a CL-2 I think it more likely they will re-use a sensor that they already have (or plan to have for an M12, Q3/4, SL3.4 etc.). It could be packaged differently, and the data could be used differently. This re-use of the sensor will also allow re-use of the time and money invested in developing camera firmware for image corrections, colour interpolation etc. I can't see it making sense to do otherwise. So I would caution against making assumptions about the sensor based on the cost of a new one. For example, re-using a sensor with more pixels than we need may be less expensive than a new sensor with lower resolution.

After selling my CL my focus has been on the M film line and I've accumulated M-mount lenses rather than L-mount. So a FF sensor is more attractive to me. I'm sure there are people with M cameras who would consider a FF version of the CL2 if it meant  having a smaller and lighter camera for casual use and for travel. A new FF CL2 of the same size and weight as the first digital CL would tempt me back into the digital world with Leica rather than another digital camera maker.

If it were to happen it would likely be a reskin of a future LUMIX S5III minus some of the more sophisticated features of the SL3. But…you would likely have to find lighter 3rd party lenses from Panasonic and Sigma to balance the smaller, lighter camera body.

An S5 is a whole lot more bulky than a CL. No way could that be turned into some kind of CL.

Indeed but a Sigma FPL with a modded sensor and a built-in EVF could possibly do it.

Not a CL substitute as the poster seems to want full frame. I’m talking about a similar sized next generation S5-derived smaller than SL Leica. Can’t be done with the current S5 as it’s not engineered to share “chassis” and underpinnings. Hence based on what will come along at some point in time as the S5III.

A CL2 would have an off-the-shelf APS sensor by Sony.
