I have no ink but know from friends it can be a bit painful. So HOW do people manage to get them done where there's no flesh (breast bone/ankle) or tender flesh (arch of foot, for example))? OUCH is always my first thought

The ones that I struggle to understand are those that are on a person's face. Having one on the forehead, which I've seen, would nearly be like tattooing right on bone.
