leicameter Posted December 25, 2023 Share #1 Posted December 25, 2023 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Yesterday morning I was amazed at what was lying next to my Leica camera. OMG my king of bokeh is broken. I hope the rest doesn't fall apart. What glue would you use to fix it? Welcome, dear visitor! dpitt Posted December 25, 2023 Share #2 Posted December 25, 2023 Whatever you use, do not use super glue! I think a general, all purpose transparant glue will do fine.
Stuart Richardson Posted December 25, 2023 Share #3 Posted December 25, 2023 Unfortunately that means the lens is no longer worth using. If you like you can send it to me for recycling. 1

darylgo Posted December 25, 2023 Share #5 Posted December 25, 2023 (edited) There are many posts on this, you may want to review them. To summarize, the bokeh improves without the red dot for certain batches of this lens but not all. You will need to find what batch your lens belongs to determine this. Alternatively, shoot some images without the dot and compare them to prior images, if your images show bokeh has suffered then glue the red dot back and keep track of this important element, you are lucky it was not lost, not any red dot will restore the bokeh. That was my first Leica 35mm lens and it did that when I tried to remove an over tightened filter.

Jeff S Posted December 25, 2023 Share #10 Posted December 25, 2023 Leica typically charges $1k+ more for the no-logo P versions, and even more for special editions. You should increase your insurance value. Jeff
