Advertisement Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 Hi LUF Admin, Take a look here Leica M11 / M11-M / M11-P: Firmware Update v.2.0.2 . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
geotrupede Posted November 28, 2023 Share #2 Posted November 28, 2023 (edited) nice one / installing asap (=now). very interested in the "The dust protection function can now be activated manually for lens changes." as given the old adapters and the many odd screw lenses I have, it is tape over the mount all the time, and forces me to go out with a gaffer tape roll every day 😉 finger crossed manual means manual... UPDATE / INDEED IT WORKS! now the shutter is in camera settings and dust protection on/off. Off means one can keep using lenses which have leaky adapters. fantastic news. happy shooting to all! mrmalo Posted November 28, 2023 Share #3 Posted November 28, 2023 (edited) Super! Great that Leica FOTOS got the update first this time. Usually, it's late to the party and I've already updated via SD card Great that user profile is now fixed! I've built up a habit of checking it each time I switch on my camera. Going to be a hard habit to shake! Still some work to do 😀 Edited November 28, 2023 by mrmalo
Gelatino Posted November 28, 2023 Share #4 Posted November 28, 2023 This time I will wait for some bold M11 users to install it and tell us what new unexpected surprises it offers. Once bitten... .🤔😱
geotrupede Posted November 28, 2023 Share #5 Posted November 28, 2023 my take, in italics M11, things cannot be worse than the v 2.0.1 so far so good, but Friday night will go out shooting, so for me real test is then

elmars Posted November 29, 2023 Share #7 Posted November 29, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have updated the firmware. With the M11, this went smoothly via the app, with the M11-P the connection was refused a few times. But then it eventually worked. Fixing the listed bugs is certainly important. But it seems even more important to me that there are no corrupt image files, as described by some here in the forum. I can't find anything about this in the list of fixed bugs.
hmzimelka Posted November 29, 2023 Share #8 Posted November 29, 2023 The update for me via the Leica Photos app was extremely frustrating... it took about 20min to get it to connect properly to update the firmware, even though I could connect the camera and view the image files without much of an issue. I'm very much in favour of a manual firmware install, but the update is still not published on the Leica website. I do not trust the app or Leica's software proficiencies, which was reaffirmed again with the frustrating install process and the fact the update ended with the "Update Successful Please restart the camera" notification, which stayed aluminated with blinking LED lights for about 4 minutes even though the camera was switched off. Leica did fix other issues in this update that weren't listed in the published list of fixes.

IMAGEPOWER Posted November 29, 2023 Share #13 Posted November 29, 2023 Update from SD-Card went smoothly, took 7 minutes. Pity the issue with corrupted DNGs when imported into Photoshop or Lightroom has not yet been solved. Will have to use reliable M10-R until M11 gets next FW update... Well, not with my M11, a few seconds after the message "Firmware is updated to 2.0.2" the red LED stopped blinking and the camera was ready for shooting. hmzimelka Posted November 29, 2023 Share #17 Posted November 29, 2023 The bug where Film Style Sharpening is only applied to the first frame after camera start-up is still present on my M11. 🤦🏻♂️
jeri Posted November 29, 2023 Share #18 Posted November 29, 2023 Ok, it took me 4 and a half minutes to update the firmware on the camera. And I can say that the process went smoothly. Of course, before everything, I formatted the memory card, and I did the same after the update was finished.

I was happy to get the on-off setting for the dust protection feature. Based on your observations and the fact that there are still complaints about corrupt DNG files, it stands to reason that this update was in response to the Fotos glitches and dust protection control. If that’s the case, then it tells us that the timeline for firmware fixes is approximately 4-5 weeks. Maybe there is another update in the pipeline.

I will add my experience to this list of totally contradicting 'normal behaviours' (which I have experienced with @elmars on the previous update - 4mins wait red LED's blank screen etc) I think mine is now the best behaviour. Clean card, clean SD format. Copy update from computer onto SD card. Select update firmware in M11. Took about 3 minutes to update, then simply restarted itself. Update done. User profiles as they were.
