What is the problem to be discussed here? The optical part of the lens has an AOV of a 26 mm lens approximately, that is true, but this is only half the lens. It is a hybrid lens design, which means that the final digital correction has been considered from the beginning when designing the glass part. Separating the two design components is akin to removing one element from a fully optical lens.

I read a confused perception of present-day lens design here:: "Woops, we designed a lens with distortion! Let's correct it digitally!"
In reality the philosophy is: "We can design a better lens with optical means if we shift and concentrate all aberrations into distortion which is much better corrected digitally anyway"

If you havent watched the video yet: dont bother, The same genius also has another one on which he lists every camera and lens he ever owned before the Q3. Yawn! 😆

We once had a thread somewhere here in the forum where we did the same. (Maybe in the German forum.)  Was great 🙂

In six months time there'll be another YouTube video on the same subject. But people have to earn a living somehow - why not trawl the Leica Forum for snippets like this? Most viewers of the video won't realise it's old stuff.

And it makes no sense to post all youtube videos that have to do with a specific camera. Youtube has a very goo search function.

Well that alone shows the limited value of resolution.

If you ever have the chance to look at RAW images taken with the SL2-S and one of the APO Summicron SL lenses this becomes readily apparent.  Even with "only" 24MP, the files appear to have a much higher effective resolution.
