May I ask what bag you use?  I have a similar sized travel setup; M11-P + 50mm Cron, and a Leica CL with 18mm pancake lens.  I've been looking for a front crossbody sling for a while but nothing seems the right size.

Peak design 5L should fit the bill.

I have the Peak Design 6L and I find the construction very rigid. Difficult to get some gear out sometimes. I imagine the 5L would be similar construction.

I am switching back to my Billingham (I don't remember the model#) because it is more forgiving and flexible when I want to stuff '1 more' thing in.

I swap between two front sling bags according to my day requirements and only carry a minimal subset of M10-R with 50APO/35FLE, X2, SF26.

The black nylon SwissGear front sling will could hold M10-R with 50APO attached and 35FLE in the main compartment, the SF26 with Lenspens and batteries in the front pocket, and I have the X2 in a waist Lowepro Adventura CS 20 III pouch.

The brown leather Coach Camden front sling will could hold M10-R with 50APO attached, 35FLE and X2 in main compartment, the SF26 with Lenspens and batteries in the front pocket.

Your M11-P/50cron and CL/18mm could comfortably fit in the Coach Camden. (There is a lighter nylon Coach Varick which would also work).

A recent acquisition, the newest version of the Think Tank Mirrorless Mover 30 is great for an up to 4 lens Leica M set up.

I currently have my M246 in the bag with my Voigtlander four-lens setup of the 21mm f1.4 Nokton, 35mm f1.7 Ultron VM, 50mm f1.5 Nokton II and 90mm f2.8 APO-Skopar.

Just as easily holds setups like 21mm f3.4 SEM, 35mm f1.4 FLE, 75mm f2 APO and 135mm f3.4 APO or similar.

Based on some discussions here I bought the pd sling. Most terrible bag I ever had. Billingham is my bag as well.

I pose the question, how is a kit for travel different from the kit you spend a day 'anywhere', including home?...

In terms of lenses? The answers to that depends, to an extent, of what sort of "travel" is involved but normally involves considerations of Weight and Size.

An example of Weight; my favourite 90mm is a v3 Silver-Chrome Summicron and it's the 90 which will go in the bag when going out for a day-trip but if I'm heading-off for a two-week holiday (travelling 'light') and want to take 28, 35, 50 and 90 lenses it would stay at home as it weighs over three times as much as my Tele Elmar-M (684g v's 225g). Similar selection story with the other f/length lenses.

Size also plays a part here. If we consider the same f/l lenses mentioned earlier my quartet of 28 Elmarit asph, 35 Light Lens Lab f2.0 '8 Element', 50 v4 Summicron and the 90 TE-M all take 39mm filters. As I frequently use filters (colour-contrast with the Monochrom; Circ. Pola on the 'Colour' body) this aspect offers an obvious advantage.

Philip.

TLDR
Next time for my needs, I'll be taking ...
Leica M6 + 28mm Elmarit ASPH V1 + Ricoh GRIIIX (40mm) OR 50mm Summicron V4

It rained a lot, but the cameras were absolute workhorses!

The 3rd lens from the left, is that a Summicron? Wondering what shade is that?

Cheers, Stefan

I pose the question, how is a kit for travel different from the kit you spend a day 'anywhere', including home? I can't imagine how your shooting style will suddenly change when you are travelling. Simple use basically the same gear you use at home. Your gear has been largely formed over time by your shooting style. Why would it suddenly change? Follow your naturally developed habits.

Well-stated! One would think that lenses for general travel should be the same lenses that one would use locally. Unless I plan to stay in a new place, for an extended time, I am not going to adapt or change the way that I shoot. I may choose, more for a lower profile than anything, to carry my physically smaller “Re-Edition” Steel Rim Summilux 35mm lens,  rather than my Zeiss Distagon 35mm f/1,4 ZM, but I know that I will want to have a relatively “fast” 35mm lens with me, regardless. (These two lenses render quite differently, so, creative choice is also involved.)

I do, of course, see a need to ask questions about specific destinations, such as the best focal length and aperture to photograph the ceilings of specific chapels/cathedrals, or whether a normally-favored focal length is too long/tightly-framed for specific environments. For example, I live in Texas, where even the urban spaces are wide-open, and so I would be unfamiliar with a best lens to use in the narrow streets and alleys of Venice. I already know, however, that I would probably default to using a 21mm lens, if 35mm is too long, because I have experience shooting at 21mm, in confined indoor spaces, as well as in the open. I know what to expect, if the camera is not held absolutely level, and how much perspective distortion I will get t various downward angles. (There is quite a learning curve, when becoming accustomed to ultra-wide-angle lenses. 24mm is not nearly the same as 28mm. 21mm is not nearly the same as 24mm.)

I don't travel too much now at least not far from home, however, I agree with @erl I don't see a difference between travelling and daily/routine shooting so unless I am restricted for space my "travel/everyday" shooting kit is 3 M9s one with 21, one with 35 and the third with 75 plus in the bag a 28 & 50. That covers me for anything.

Bellroy 9L camera sling, M10-R with visoflex, 21mm/35mm/50mm/90macro/135mm, the 4 lenses 2 each to the Optech coupler, the 135mm by itself. Extra battery, lens cloth, iPhone 15 pro in the side pocket.

Really enjoying the wear on the 50mm Summicron.

It's a really personal choice but for me I think if it were a one lens kit, 35 summicron (a great all rounder FL), two lens kit, 28 Elmarit and 90 Elmar (I've always liked a wide and long option), three lens kit, the 28, 35 and 90 with my M4/M9. In the end the lenses are so small and compact I would probably take all three but the 35 'cron would be on the M4 most of the time.

@Topsy Is your 35mm summicron the V3 version? I got the V3 recently and I'm loving it.

Change that to

- 35mm Summicron asph II

- 50mm Summicron

You've got the perfect pair for life. Only 2 lenses you'll ever need.

Agree that a 35 + 50 pairing is a wonderful thing.

f/1.4 for me - the look and extra stop of light for film.
