Help re photography technique ...

My apologies for posting here but I looked at all the other forums and could not really see anywhere else more appropriate. In any case I'd like to use my SL2 to do this ...

The closest I've ever got (pre-Leica) was something like these:

look at the edges of the sharp areas, obviously cutout, in which case a minimum of:

duplicate layer in PS

delete surfer and splash from the lower layer

blur the lower layer horizontally

cutout and use only the surfer and splash from the upper layer

so, essentially you need photoshop, and any camera

To each his own, but IMHO the original images are far more visually gripping than the modified images.

Thanks, I totally missed this. It kinda spoils it, no? I'd rather stick with tracking and slow shutter from the camera, even if it ends up not quite so "perfect".

Certainly don't need a specific camera for this, you need Photoshop skills

Yes, when I thought about it overnight I realised it was probably done in Photoshop. I use Lightroom Classic to edit, manage and print my photos, but I do not use Photoshop at all.

Me neither, I think when images are this edited it is something other than photography. Which is fine, it’s just nothing I aspire to. I feel less guilty with Lightroom Classic because it is more like a darkroom, metaphorically.
