This looks a really ‘cool’ technique for artistic photography. Hope to have a go at doing this shortly using the negatives that should have ended up on the cutting floor, but somehow survived in negative sleeves.

Another technique I’m keen to try is cutting chunks out of negatives and filling the gaps from other frames.

Not quite the same thing, but I really liked Gideon Mendel's series Damage: A Testament of Faded Memory when it was shown at the 2019 Prix Pictet exhibition in London (explanation at the end of the page):

I like the effect but I’m struggling to think of techniques to accelerate the ‘antagonists’.

Little to lose, I guess, if I dunk my ‘iffy’ negs in a bucket of dirty pond water - for a month or two, adding some nutrients.

Another technique for distressing is dilute bleach and one of those scouring pads often used in the kitchen sink.
