Ernstk Posted October 3, 2023 Share #1 Posted October 3, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Can anyone recommend a UK print lab for high quality work, for A3 and A2 prints, in B&W and colour? Thanks Ernst

leica dream Posted October 4, 2023 Share #4 Posted October 4, 2023 (edited) Would that go for colour negative process/scan too, Andy? I have just run the first film through my "new" R3 with rather mixed results using another lab. Hence I don't know if it in process/scan or the camera. I shall scan on my flatbed to compare output, but it looks to me that the balance/contrast is not right. I'll investigate further before raising on the forum. For colour processing & scanning, I've had good results with FilmDev: https://filmdev.co.uk/ Scans from anywhere will often need a bit of work to get colour balance and contrast the way you want them, though. Some labs intervene more than others to 'fix' the scans before sending them out, which you may or may not want. The better labs will give you neutral scans without extra sharpening if you request that.
Bikie John Posted October 7, 2023 Share #6 Posted October 7, 2023 The local shop here do good work, good enough that several pro and exhibition photogs use them: https://salisburyphotocentre.co.uk/ Of course it depends exactly what you want, but it should be worth a try anyway. (Disclosure - I have no vested interest, except that I like to support a good local independent business.) John
David Cantor Posted October 7, 2023 Share #7 Posted October 7, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I’ve not used them for the sizes that you mention but I get all my prints at Simlab in Hertfordshire. I mainly print on 18” x 12”, the service is excellent, upload before 1pm, receive them next day via courier, prices are good too. I see that there is a section on their site for large prints. LocalHero1953 Posted October 7, 2023 Share #8 Posted October 7, 2023 For prints I've used WhiteWall.com/uk and ThePrintSpace.co.uk with good results. For colour film developing, I use AG Photographic and (for large format) Rapid Eye Darkrooms, with good results. I haven't had film scanned for a few decades - I do my own. TheLaird Posted October 31, 2023 Share #9 Posted October 31, 2023 (edited) I have used DSColourlabs for many years. Perhaps not the very, very best, but more than adequate for items for entering into regional camera club competitions. vladovostok Posted December 27, 2023 Share #10 Posted December 27, 2023 (edited) Hi, Im happy with Bayeux lab in London, they still develop and scan films, in past I used Genesis lab, also very happy, but they stopped processing now. Another pro lab would be Metro imaging . Hope that helps. Edited December 27, 2023 by vladovostok
