Maybe you're using a high contrast lens with a profile in LRC other than Adobe Standard?

Are you sure? The greens are awful.

sure about "no edit"? because according to @jaapv the green are "awful" 🫠

Zero edits in LRC with Adobe Standard profile. None of the colors look great with a neutral profile. It's just a starting point before edits.

I’d like Leica Looks for my M11. I’m confused about some of the negative comments - I shoot jpegs with my Leicas and they have always had jpeg customizable processing options - vivid, classic, natural.
Natural in SL2 was my absolute favorite for skin tones and when I switched from M240 to M11 I was hoping it would be the same, but sadly it’s not the same. Adding “Leica Looks” (I.e. additional jpeg processing options) makes sense for an M.

With the new firmware/app update - I can apply these looks to any jpegs I have in Fotos, from the M or from iPhone/Lux app. (For “free” for now, Lux app requires a subscription)

And lastly - there may be 2 reasons why Leica have not made it available for M DNG’s.
1. Outdated processor in M11, and that means even newer processor M’s can’t get this to avoid confusion.
2. Leica Looks are positioned to compete with Fuji x100v/vi directly so are included in Q. This is a bit flawed as they are also included for SL3. But not SL2.

Go figure 🤷‍♂️

Leica Looks… This thread is testimony to good salesmanship.  😼

They're not selling these in-camera looks, these are just JPEG styles that are similar to Fujifilm's. Why exclude M11 owners? Makes no sense to exclude any Leica camera currently sold new. Takes no more processing power to produce stylized JPEGs than it does to make the default ones.

To be fair, they do work with the M11, but you can only apply them to the preview photos that have been transferred via the new background transfer feature in Fotos 5 and M11 firmware 2.2.0. So it's a bit of a limitation, but the basic functionality is now there.

Applying styles to already processed JPEGs, though, right? I feel like that’s about as low as we can get on the amateur scale for features.

I agree - but to be honest, I would likely never apply the Leica Looks to a DNG file, as I would almost always want to process the image to my taste.

Perhaps the small background transfer files might occasionally be useful as the digital equivalent of a Polaroid? In that case, maybe applying one of the looks to a SOOC jpeg before sending it on to someone you just photographed on the street is a good use case.

When I used to shoot the GFX, I found it very helpful to have Fujifilm's film styles available in Capture One to apply to the DNGs. I process to taste, too, but the film styles were often really good starting points for edits, particularly Eterna.
