Thank you all who gave advices yesterday. Of course it was all me being an idiot trying to do something which honestly isn't that difficult. Just to clarify what happened, although I don't expect many others to end in the same mess. This is the story:

I tried to download the updated version (5.0) on the SD card, but without erasing the old version. And I didn't format the card. It didn't work of course. So, I suspected something was fishy with my personal Mac, and got the "brilliant" idea to use my work-computer which is a PC. Seemed to work fine, but maybe because of some restrictions from the ICT-dept, I don't know, I was suddenly thrown into some Bitlock stuff, and simply panicked. Remembering all the online courses we have been forced to attend, and becoming afraid I was about to introduce some bug or virus into my workplace system. It's a governmental institution, and it wouldn't be very popular (understatement). So, I simply pulled the plug, while the Bitlock thing was going on, and the result was that my SD card was somehow locked for downloads.

I searched the World Wide Web for solutions, but they were all "wishy-washy", requiring to download programs etc. So a simple souls solution was to buy a new SD card today, and follow the instructions point by point. Result? New version installed in minutes. I'm not in the position to give any advices, but nevertheless - follow the instructions provided by Leica.

Thank you!

I have the same error on my Q2M! I wonder if it doesn't work for Q2M??

After attempting the update six times, I realized that the Q2M requires the file, 'Q2M__500.lfu' as the other file will NOT be recognized by your camera.

I'm on Mac OS Ventura 13.3.1. , downloaded 5.0.  Took card out of Q2, insert into computer, dragged 4.0, which was still on the card to trash, copied 5 to card. Put card into Q2 and installed update, no problems.

Yesterday I updated the SL2 using the Leica PHOTOs app, first time I have done it that way. Worked fine except there is no warning to save profiles before updating, so of course I forgot and lost all my profiles. Why they can't add the warning with the PHOTOs app like they do when using an SD card is a mystery to me. Actually, why it isn't done automatically is a mystery.

I know there is a 5.0 factsheet but does anyone know when the users manual pdf will be updated?

If you download the installation instructions, it includes user manual pages for the new functions of the firmware.
All you need is a PDF editor (e.g. PDFill) and you can combine the relevant pages to make your own updated manual.🙂

Interesting. My download has no underscore but the update still worked perfectly well. What can that be?

Has anyone had the new Q2 firmware available to install via FOTOS? Doing it that was was a breeze for the last M11 update and I didn’t lose any profiles. I know there’s usually a delay before it’s rolled out via the app but this is much longer than I was expecting.

Could it be possible that people mix up the Firmware for the Q2 and the one for the M2-M?

From the beginning I thought that it might not be a good idea from Leica to give them all the same number. These a 2 fully different pieces of software that are notcompatible.

The Q2 and Q2M firmware 5.0 are separate.  Here is the Q2M file:

Yeah, I discovered that right after I sent my “me too” message.  I even replied back at how “dumb” I was not to realize that mistake sooner.  But, that message said it needed moderator approval to post.  Makes me wonder what I really typed. 🙊

If a moderator reads this message, you can delete the other from me.

Can somebody please tell me where to find the firmware update for downloading?  I don't see anything on the Leica website site with the actual new firmware on it.  On a similar note, why doesn't Leica email registered camera owners when there is a firmware update, along with the actual firmware update? I stumbled upon the news of the new 5.0 version while searching YouTubes on a different topic.

Thanks!

Have downloaded the 'Q2___500.lfu" file that is 118MB  and when attempting to do the update on my Q2 M. I get a message "no firmware on SD card found "

Any idea what I'm doing wrong ?

Can you please share the link for the actual download?  I can't find it anywhere on the Leica website, all I find is technical data about the firmware update.

Thanks!
