I find images images lacking sharpness with this lens and stopping down beyond f5.6 at 60 MB resolution.  Is it because of diffraction at this high resolution?

Has anybody experienced this problem?

In my experience I do not have issues with the M11 and my 35/1.4 FLE Version I.  This has been my primary camera and lens combination since purchasing my M11 in April 2022.

Many examples of this combination at:

While I haven't used it often, IMO the pre-ASPH 'lux performs pretty well on the M11. The corners, as you might expect, are a bit wonky... they always have been if you bothered to look closely... but other than that the results are what you'd expect, creamy wide open with things sharpening up as you stop down.

Not many examples, but this pretty much sums up what I've seen.

F2.8 1/750" ISO64 (cropped on the right, left corner as shot)

I traded my Summilux M 35mm ASPH FLE in for the new v2. Both lenses are sharp on my M11. I think that my new v2 version is as sharp at f2 and smaller apertures as my APO Summilux M 35mm ASPH.

You can send your lens to Leica to get it check out, particularly ifyou have used it for years.

I guess you mean APO summicron 35 ?  But it is interesting.  Then the summilux 35 v2 is a better purchase.  Are you sure that the summilux is as sharp at f2 as the APO summichrom at f2 at the edge?

IMHO you can easily create 60MP out of 36MP with minimal loss using PS's Preserve Details 2.0, the results are VERY satisfactory. Or use Camera Raw Super Resolution powered by machine learning.

can you tell where the software fails? Gigapixel image on the right.

You need to provide more data - what were you doing, what is the original image size, what were the Topaz parameters, what did you try to achieve, what % was the upscale etc. etc. I cannot tell much from your 2000+ pixel image attached.

should I circle the typical artifacts?

I have used topaz gigaPixel many times and there are always some minor issues.

Hi bud, do you mean as sharp as apo summicron m 35mm ?

When comparing images shot with both lenses an apertures smaller than f2 on my M11, I can't see any difference in sharpness when enlarged on my 27" Eizo monitor in Lightroom. They all look great.
