Torontoamateur Posted February 4, 2023 Share #1 Posted February 4, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am adding an Omega enlarger to my darkroom ( I have a Focomat IIc already) and now I am confused over the several Rodenstock 50mm lenses available It is quite perplexing. I am setting this up for dedicated enlarging with the Adox CMC20 and doing 11x14 prints. This will be a dedicated set up . Now I want the most sharp 50mm enlarging lens. I am not committed ot Rodenstock I just began this conversation with that name. I could get a Schneider if that is better regarding sharpness.( for the camera I have the new Summulix 50mm and 35mm on my M6). I need comments from people who have experience in this "sharpness" thing. Or am I being just too obsessive? Help
Advertisement Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 Hi Torontoamateur, Take a look here 50MM enlarger lens Question . Which Rodenstock is the most sharp?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
John McMaster Posted February 4, 2023 Share #2 Posted February 4, 2023 APO-Rodagon from Rodenstock or APO-Componon from Schneider john
BernardC Posted February 6, 2023 Share #3 Posted February 6, 2023 There are two type of Apo-Rodagons. You want the Apo-Rodagon-N, which is for 2× - 15× enlargements. The Apo-Rodagon-D is for 0.8× - 1.2×. You aren't being too obsessive, CMS20 makes every technical shortcoming stand-out.
Pyrogallol Posted February 6, 2023 Share #4 Posted February 6, 2023 EL-Nikkor 50mm f2.8 I have used one for 40+ years, very good, sharp. And use the 135mm version for large format.
