Advertisement Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Hi eyedeebee, Take a look here Silver and Black. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
earleygallery Posted October 23, 2007 Share #2 Posted October 23, 2007 Why on earth should it matter?
eyedeebee Posted October 23, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted October 23, 2007 It clearly doesn't really matter! (hence my refence to triviality), but having just coupled a silver Elmar to a black M6, I keep finding my eyes drawn to the combination..........but then again it could just be admiration rather than the contrast.. mub Posted October 23, 2007 Share #4 Posted October 23, 2007 i use black lenses on a silver body. disgusting, isn't it?
leitz_not_leica Posted October 23, 2007 Share #5 Posted October 23, 2007 I use them interchangeably...I base my purchases on need, availability, and price.
topoxforddoc Posted October 23, 2007 Share #6 Posted October 23, 2007 If individuals don't like their lenses on their bodies, I am very happy for you to donate them to me!!! Honestly this is like asking whether you want mint or user lenses. Really I can't see the point. As long as the glass is good, who cares unless you're a collector or you're planning to resell. luigi bertolotti Posted October 23, 2007 Share #7 Posted October 23, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Completely trivial, I know, but silver lenses with black bodies? Is it right and should it be allowed? Ian, I like your question... And my answer is it's definitely NOT ALLOWED : horrid combo... I DISLIKE black bodies... my only one is a Leica CL: even my nice Summilux 35 chrome is disgusting on it !!!. I I tried unsuccesfully to have chromed the CL... now I'm looking for someone who can GOLD-plate it...seems it can be done, but wouldn't do it if I cannot have the same finishing on Summicron C 40 and Elmar C 90... and this seems more difficult.... Michael-IIIf Posted October 25, 2007 Share #12 Posted October 25, 2007 One of the HiFi forums I visit is currently vociferously debating this same point over black versus chrome HiFi components. There must be something more important in life.
rsolomon Posted October 25, 2007 Share #13 Posted October 25, 2007 i think looks are important -- this is of course not a technical question. but one of taste i very much prefer black and black..... and i also see this as an issue with audio components as well... bill Posted October 26, 2007 Share #17 Posted October 26, 2007 It upsets me aesthetically when I use my VC 35mm PII with it's chrome lens ring on my black M7. It makes it look like a Canon G7/G9... Regards, Bill
JBA Posted October 30, 2007 Share #18 Posted October 30, 2007 I realize my response is only worth about as much as the original question, but I've never seen a Leica I found aesthetically displeasing in any configuration whatsoever.
