Just noticed that the MC version has a Matt black finish and the SC version has a black paint finish. I want the MC version but prefer the black paint finish to match the MP … tough choice

Ha!  The choice between how the lens looks and how the lens sees.

Bump.
Does anyone have this lens and wish to share impressions, thanks.

Fred Miranda has received both SC and MC versions and will be posting test results soon. Look for a new review thread to pop up there over the weekend. Currently he is reporting the following good news about the lens: https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1791205/10#16202149

My MC version arrives tomorrow, and I'll post some shots in this thread.

Review posted not long time ago on Fred Miranda.

thanks for that 🙏interesting... it uses the same-ish optical layout as the 1.5 nokton.

all the images look good to my eyes. easily usable for portraits wide open.  also love the fact that it's less than 300g

all i need to do now is to track down a SC version

the SC lens won't be available in Australia for a few more weeks, so i pulled the trigger and bought a demo version of the MC lens (20% off).

due to a shipping cockup, i didnt get it on friday so couldn't test this weekend. i'll circle back when i have some images

Focus shift and sensitive focusing seem like a awkward combination, otherwise it looks quite good. I was thinking this might be a nice portrait lens. Does any one know if the 75 1.5 also suffers focus shift?

Will be intersted to hear your thoughts when you get your copy.

I have the Nokton 75/1.5 and it's a lovely lens. No focus shift at all. However, the short focus throw is extremely frustrating. The smallest adjustment on the focusing ring makes a big difference

As an example, a subject is 12 meters away from me, the lens focus ring indicates it's still on the left edge of the infinity symbol. Since this lens is sharp with very good subject isolation, this makes focusing on anything further than 3 meters away quite tricky. It's the only reason why I don't really use this lens much. The new Ultron 75/1.9 looks to be a great lens, but the focus throw is in my opinion the real achilles heel of it and the Nokton 75/1.5.

Focus movement/speed on the 1.9 seems faster than the 1.5 to me. I think the 1.9 has a smaller diameter focusing ring, which contributes to the faster focus movement with the same/similar focus throw.

It's already difficult with the 75/1.5 and as you say it's more so with the 75/1.9

did a quick wall test with my m246 (shot wide open / handheld) - some vignette and minor pincushion distortion

the distance scale isn't linear, so focus not too bad, esp towards MFD
