ProGrade too? Wow i thought it was at least better than lexar.. all comes down to sandisk with the idea of adding extra uhs II in my case then

I use the ProGrade Digital SDXC UHS-II V90 300R Memory Card (128GB) in my M10-R and have no issues with it. The card has worked flawlessly.

My sony uhs II 300mb, been using this on my M11 since day one, works fine, may be not all sony card variants

This is the Sony card that I referred to in post #847. Did not work on the M10-R.

I do not have an M11 user manual to check Leica's recommendation for an SD card to use with the M11.

I’ll save you the time. It politely says they can’t check all the available cards but they give parameters. Nothing has changed since they recommended Sandisk.

This is the only card I use with my M11. Love the capacity, speed, and reliability. Plus it does seem a bit less flimsy than other cards which is a plus.

A lot of people have reported issues with the M11 and Sony Tough combo. It just proves SD card is a factor of freezes or just a red herring.

I think those of us with Sony Tough issues on the M11 were using the slower speed cards.

Not true:

And you can find many other threads/comments if you look for Sony Tough on this forum.

I have a touch that where gifted to me by Sony , all Tough G. they started making the slower card much later .

The Touch cards gave me issues in many cameras. Q2 Sl2, x100V, Sony A7r4. maybe they are not all the same, but I am not using them anymore, they go on the same pail where Lexar are.
Sony regular card worked fine for me.

for the few of you that are still using the Tough cards a say Good Luck. and don't say we didn't warn you!

And don’t read sarcasm and arrogance into my reply. You’ve been here a long time and have seen and been a part of a lot of sd Card discussions about what works and what don’t.

After 44 pages and counting...I think its safe to say that:

  1. SD cards are not the culprit. - although some are problematic
  2. There are 2 types of freezes being reported:
a- the software glitch freeze ( common in all cameras). fixed with a battery ejected. Yes, repeatable but also solvable
b- the hardware malfunction freeze - freezes a couple of times then dies and goes to Wetzlar for a motherboard replacement.

Im curious which type is more pervasive.

With all the info and reports here, I'm curious if it would be helpful to form a group of validated M11 users who are having freezes. And then have everyone do a detailed survey to capture any commonalities within the group.

My M11 was also sent back to the factory last week.

Good question: My gut says yes, it would be incredibly helpful for both the users who are having problems AND also for Leica who are probably getting inundated with people wanting to send their cameras in at the first sign of a freeze.

I don't want to jinx myself but haven't had any issues thus far. I wonder how widespread this really is in the context of units sold

Likewise and in my experience in order of ‘freezing issues’ I’d say my M10M came first (battery pull solved it and then updated firmware stopped it), M10R second (minor) and my M11 (purchased when it came out) the least by some margin. Again I don’t wish in any way to claim there aren’t issues but just take a look and you’ll see the last post on M10R freezing issues was February 2022 and the M10M freezing posts went on and on.

Reading the thread you’d think every other M11 is going back right now but I suspect, like Leica told me last time, the actual percentage is very low. For example I’m out in Singapore at the moment and using the M11 every day, no issues.

The issue with the internet is people don’t usually comment if everything is fine and can’t usually be bothered with survey’s. I suspect it’s probably a firmware issue connected to use cases e.g. lens type, cards, profiles used and so on. Once it can be replicated then Leica can fix it. Equally a bunch of people tested it before launch and not really a squeak out of them.

I hope for everyone here the next firmware versions resolves everything for you :)
