I have been using UHS-I memory cards (Sandisk Extreme Pro 170mb/s) on my M11 without any problems for about 5,000 photos after a bad experience with a Sony Tough UHS-II card a few months ago. However, I wanted to know if other UHS-II cards could cause similar problems as the Sony. So i ordered a Sandisk Extreme Pro 300mb/s UHS-II card out of curiosity, using it in exactly the same way as my previous UHS-I cards. What i was dreading happened yesterday. After a shooting of about 20 photos, the camera froze, emitting a constant red signal. Fortunately, the camera is not damaged, i just had to remove the battery and replace the UHS-II by a UHS-I card to get everything back to normal. I haven't tried to use the UHS-II card again on the M11 but it works normally on my Sony A7r2 mod now. Anyway, i wanted to share this experience with those who have problems with their memory cards. Based on this experience, i can only advise using a UHS-I card pending the next firmware update as a precaution. Just my 2 cents.

I have been using SanDisk Extreme Pro UHS-II 64GB without any problems since M11 was launched.
What capacity is your SanDisk card? Did you format it in the camera before use?
Since many have no issues using UHS-II cards, the problem may be only with your camera.

64GB formatted with SD card formatter + in-camera. People with no card problems did not report them of course but reading this forum, i got the impression that card problems were mainly, if not exclusively, caused by UHS-II cards. This feeling is now confirmed as far as i'm concerned so i will refrain from using any UHS-II card in the M11 pending the next firmware update, but no one is obliged to follow my example, needless to say.

+1

It would be good to hear from others who can eliminate crashing by switching from a UHS-II to a UHS-I card. Sony TOUGH cards do not count :). They have always been problematic, IMO.

Well, it's extremely likely firmware 1.6.0.0 is coming out early this week so perhaps, holding thumbs, some UHS-II compatibility will be included with this update. 😬

My M11 freezes rarely, but it does so almost unprovoked or unpredictably. I use Lexar 1667x 128GB UHS-II cards and Pro-Grade 128GB 250MB/S UHS-II card.

I switched from Sony Tough UHS-II to Sandisk UHS-I and still have crashes / freezes as before. Thus, I do not share the thesis the freezes are caused by the SD Card. I rather have the perception this is an internal memory / buffer thing of the camera that of course plays together with the SD card you have selected but is not necessarily caused by it.

I just purchased two BlackFriday priced SanDisk Extreme Pro 300 MB/sUHS-II cards. Both 64GB. Direct from Sandisk website. So far no problems with these cards on the M11. Of course I formatted both in the M11. Still early usage. I will report if I notice any problems.

Will i take the risk of using a UHS-II card again?

I did it and i got my first hang in 10 minutes with the new firmware... Removed the battery, reinserted the UHS-II cad again but if i get another hang or lock up with this card, i will stick to my old UHS-I cards definitely.

Hope new firmware really sorted out at least most common freezes, keep us posted..

may be have to reset the camera after update?

I did it and will do it again as a precaution but this hang in 10 minutes does not bode well...

IMO, you should send  in your M11 to be fixed.

This camera has been working perfectly with UHS-I cards for over 5,000 photos and has only had 2 failures with UHS-II cards in 8 months, so i will continue to use the former as long as they work properly on the camera. The question of whether the 1.6.0.0 firmware update was useful for me can only be answered in the negative from this view point but i don't pretend to be representative of anybody. If the problem is more general, other users won't fail to say so here anyway.
