i seldom use the visoflex 2 but yesterday when i tried to put it on, it doesnt show any life at all, just blank... i have the display settings oke, and set to extended or auto or evf with no avail

and when i slotted in the viso into hotshoe, the visoflex settings like eye sensitivity aint highlighted so it seems as if it aint detecting it

i have tried the viso on my m10r and worked normally... now im worried :D but too used to problem with m11, but not this

Hot off the press: My Visoflex 020 on M10M stopped working on Wednesday. Same symptoms as with your VF2/M11.

I was in New York, so no problem -> B&H super store, bought Visioflex 2. Initially worked.

Then: Visoflex (both the 020 and 2) no longer work.

Took a closer look at the hot shoe contacts (should have done that to begin with!). Middle one in the front is visibly lower than the surrounding pins.

Called Leica US customer service yesterday - they have seen this issue (hot shoe contacts depressed) with a few M11s recently. So doesn't seem to be a very frequent issue, but there is precedent. Leica will repair my M10M under warranty, but have to send it in.

Hope this helps.

that's probably the culprit and sadly cant do it at home? so difficult to send back and repair... i wish there's a workaround but thanks for your feedback!

It is not acceptable then. Your M11 being under warranty i would ask for a replacement or a refund. Bad habit of Leica to repair new bodies this way IMHO. The pretext that the camera is not DOA (dead on arrival) has no legal grounds AFAIK but it depends on your local law.

I have the same problem. For some time now, my Visoflex 2 hasn't been working properly on my M11. Only the eye sensor works, but the EVF screen stays black. If I move the Visoflex back and forth a little, the picture comes up intermittently. The contacts all look clean and ok. I feel the hot shoe has a little too much tolerance. The Visoflex works without a problem on a borrowed M10M.

@jakontil Very simple question: Did you switch on LV properly? You are certainly aware of that but its a possibility.

yeah i did, lv just liveview in lcd regardless my setting, extended, auto, evf

seemed it lost contact, in the evf setting when plugged in, it wont let me change eye sensitivity too

  • Thanks 1

@jakontil: No, I did not send it to service yet but talked to my local dealer. My SL2-S just returned from service after 3 ½ months... That is a long, long time!! My dealer called Leica, it seems to be a known issue in very cold weather. Indeed it happened for the first time in cold temperatures a month ago (around -2 Celsius). In spring I was in Svalbard with my M11 (it was around - 28 Celsius most of the time) and the Visoflex was working fine. But for a week now it does not work in a warm surrounding either.

my experience with viso is that reliability is not that great.

the first one I had died after a week, the current works some times and some times takes an on/off camera cycles, mount/unmount to switch it on.

it is not contact, they are clean and the unit is new. but simply it is buggy, perhaps M11 bugs.

if you read above, seems like problem with the contacts pin being lowered or insensitive, dont think it is the visoflex itself causing it
