Never unwrapped first batch M6 ?

1984 made !

I see no strap protect and "Leitz" logo !

Can you confirm ?

...

note

the slotted battery cover is weird though.

Maybe new now M6

Good for you.

Enjoy.

Film is not dead :)

(even if it's harder to find the right one film like some years ago, I still have low old stock I love Fujifilm Neopan 400/1600)

...

So the new type M6 is that mimicking 1984's M6 with new features.

No plastic side protection, and Leitz logo like the oldest M6.

I think it's "2-screwed eyelets" as MP/M-A.

Have a look inside.

Do the "battery low" LED is in the viewfinder ?

I'm helping my mum with some things these days and haven't had a chance to play with my new toy. I did fondle it this evening. After using 50yr old film M's for a few years it's really quite nice to have a new one in my hands. The paint work and coverings are all perfect, the film wind on lever so smooth and everything feels just precise and well put together. The film door has no 'play' in it, the mechanical parts are all new - so different from my old cameras. I can imagine how it was for the person who bought my M3 and M4 new all those years ago. The viewfinder is immaculate. It is a difficult thing to describe unless you've experienced it yourself. Haven't had a chance to put a battery in it yet.

If only you could still get some of the older cars in modern production without all the sh*t they put in them today.

Indeed! In year 2000 I bought a VW Beetle made in Mexico that year - basically the 1968 design, air cooled engine, etc. Just with modern fuel injection. Enjoyed driving it for 20 years.

Looks nice! I’ve been doing the opposite - putting M6 advance levers on my M2 & 3. I like the action better.

Hi everyone,

help me rediscover my M6.Since I bought Nikon FM3a SLR I dislike shoot with my M6.I like the feeling, the lens, but this tight frame lines… I have 72 viewfinder and I even have genuine zoom magnifier of 1.25.

Even with it I can’t feel the comfort I have wit the SLR seeng the frame, I mean I have to find some perspective angle to shoot, it is like everything happens much before me, with the SLR I have the feeling I’m in the frame.

I must suggest your attend therapy sessions for LEICA LOVE.  These sessions begin at the film counter of your favourite camera store. You purchase ten rolls of 36 exposure film. Then enjoy the tactile pleasure of loading the film in your M^. Seriously no other camera has that tactile feel. The walk to the door of the store chanting Leica IS LOVE. Repeat this chant 100 times as you biol through 36 frames  Rewind film while humming your favourite tune. Then load and repeat the Leica is Love Chant for every roll of film.

This must be repeated weekly for 50 weeks to be effective in restoring the Love of Leica in yourmind and emotions.

Your Nikon will become jealous and unruly.. Let ti be . IT can handle the situation  Nikons are rough and tough.

I guarantee your love of Leica will be fully restored

My 1995 production M6, just purchased used from KEH. It's wearing a 50mm Zeiss Planar f2. I sent it to DAG 1 week after I bought it this month for a CLA to play it safe even though it was in great shape.

Got me thinking of getting another by Xmas depending on funds.

Twenty rolls of film to develop after a long, three week trip to Brasil. The M6 titanium and 35/50 lux lenses are new to me but I’m not new to Leica. Absolutely loved being back with an M camera and very excited to see these scans!

Sounds like an amazing trip — and what a setup! The M6 Titanium with 35 and 50 Lux lenses is a dream combo for travel. I totally get the excitement of coming back to an M after some time away.

Just a heads-up though: I’ve had some frustrating experiences in the past with Silbersalz scans. Colors were often off — especially with a strong yellow cast — and some scans even showed visible dust or debris. Hopefully, your results will be better. With that gear and location, there’s a lot of potential in those rolls! Looking forward to seeing what you got.

I’ve been hearing of recent struggles with Silbersalz, but I’ve used them a few times with good success. I’m hoping I have no issues here. It was a miracle enough getting these hand checked with all the separate flights we took!

I will say though shipping from Hawaii to Germany was outrageously expensive. Will probably be looking towards a US film lab next time I want to shoot Vision3 film, if there even is an option for a next time considering the recent news with Alaris.
