I've been waiting for a decent hard case from Leica for my Visoflex 2, and although one was finally announced last week, it's still out of stock everywhere, and I note it costs 20% of the price of the Visoflex 2! So I decided to take matters into my own hands, and have found an excellent alternative. It's a Woodten watch gift box. You throw-away the watch cushion it comes with, and simply pop the drawstring bag of the Visoflex 2 inside, making a perfect snug fit to protect your Visoflex 2. I received the official case today. It works well, but it's very expensive for what it is and should really have been included with the Visoflex 2.

I've had a couple of Q2s over the last 18 months and just bought the M11. I thought Q2 accessories were pricey, but the M11 is in a different league, although the leather protector case and strap do smell better :)

Leica is switching their cases to these pouches, the 35 Steel Rim comes with a pouch, the Viso 2 should include a case.  

Here's the description, the Leica emblem is the costlier feature:  

The Leica Visoflex 2 Case, Leather, Black is made out of super fine hair sheep nappa leather, and features a magnetic closure. The inside is padded to protect the Visoflex 2, and the Leica emblem is embossed on the outside.

I too just received the new Visoflex 2 case. It's made of very soft Sheep Leather and has a strong magnetic clasp too.
I agree it is a bit pricey but I would add it seems to be very high quality. Also agree, it would have been nice if it was included in
the price of the Viewfinder.

Where did you find one of these? I didn’t think they were sold separately?

I actually purchased mine from Fred Miranda. He was selling his when he was selling a couple of pieces of his Leica equipment. I also believe you would have to find one from someone selling theirs.  I see them relatively often.  Generally for between $30 and $40.

For those of you who’ve tried the Leica leather case (L24038) that’s specific for the Visoflex 2, how easy is it to get the Visoflex out of such a tight case? I think I read once that it has a ribbon that goes under and hence pulls the Visoflex up and out of the leather case, is that correct? And I assume the dedicated leather pouch, albeit just marginally, makes transporting the Visoflex 2 a bit more compact and better protected, when compared to the fabric case that came as standard with the Visoflex 2?

I nowhere saw the back of it. Does it have a loop to mount it on a strap?

I don't have my camera with me today, but I do NOT recall any kind of loop in the back to mount to a strap or such.

If I check it and discover it does, I can post about it again, but my recollection is that it does NOT.

so this will fit nicely only without the bottom rubber protection right? I seen some good leica cases meant for the visoflex 020

I own the official Leica leather case for the Visoflex 2. You are correct that there is a ribbon inside that you can use as a pull tab. The case fits well and I keep the rubber protector over the electrical contacts. It's snug without being tight. You don't have to use the pull tab and personally I don't. I find it easier to flip the case upside down and tap it against my hand. The Visoflex 2 then falls out into the palm of my hand. Hopefully this makes sense? Overall I find the case to be stupid expensive, but it works well (and much better than the bag it comes with). Overall I'm happy with it since my Visoflex 2 sits in my camera bag 95% of the time. I mostly use it for special occasions like portraits or macro.
