Hello! Im not new in Leica cameras,

I am the owner of the new M11. And from the first day I started to have problems. Sometimes the camera just freezes and does not respond to button presses. I have to take out the battery and then everything works. It seems to me that there is some kind of conflict with the external SD card, I tried 3 different cards (I have them in M10p, SL2) and I even bought two new ones, but this problem remains. Sometimes it freezes after standby mode. Today in 30 minutes I had three freezes and I managed to record it on video (I will add a link to google drive) wrote to support. Now I am writing here to consult with you.

1- I can't return the camera, my friends bought it for me, and I'm in Ukraine. Now there is no way to leave country or send camera for repare or swap.

2- As a person working as a developer, it seems to me that this is a software error. It seems that the camera is requesting a card, but for some reason it hangs. (firmware is the latest out of the box)

3- But maybe this is a factory failure, I'm not sure about anything. I wouldn't want to get a brick one day.

Please tell me, who faced this and what could I do? How much is this really a problem and is it present in your cameras.

I never had any problems with Leica. I had almost all modern cameras from M8. Im very sad with this experience.

Thanks you for helping

my suggestion is to try swapping with another unit, go to shop asap and tell them of the issue, ask to see another unit, if that works then request to be given a new camera.

op is in ukraine!   Return to shop is difficult.  Read the original post.

yes :) but the guy who sold me M11 have other camera and today we made a swap and I find interesting thing

1- I put old battery (from the my first M11, cos my was charged) to his new M11 and from the start and intro wooala - Leica stuck!

2- I take new battery- charge it and put in the new camera- and I use it half of the day, take 65 shots, try every SD what I have in home. And nothing, any freezes.

Maybe problem was in battery?  Cos in old camera I get problems after few minutes of use and old battery in new M11- same problem. But new battery and new M11 fine (at this moment)

What do you think? Somebody claimed?

Welcome to the forum monark33!

It sounds like the battery was the problem. Glad your problem has been solved and you can make photos with it. Looking forward to seeing your work in images thread.

Freezes are a known problem of the M11. Some have many freezes, some occasionally, some no freezes. I don´t think it is the camera or the battery, I think it is the firmware. We have to wait for an update.

Or it is the firmware that is not clever enough to guess that some people using it will have no problems and others will :D. Wait and see indeed but in the meantime it is not bad to explore the ways to avoid those freezes IMHO.

Seems the problem was really with battery, just let know other users who has same problem. Check battery, there is possible problmes with controller or processor. Peace 😉

Glad it worked out well and straight forward for you! A very rare insight and worth noting

Leica Ukraine are very nice people. I talk to them sometimes via Instagram. Have you tried contacting them?

Edit: oh. I saw you got it resolved. I would make friends with Leica Ukraine anyway.
