Nice. But no thanks. I’m still on the 15 year waiting list for a 35 APO. (I’ve donated my position to my children.). I don’t need to join another multi-year wait list. I’m done.

New lens is 18g heavier. Aperture and focusing rings closer together. Love the new design though... Will probably get as soon as they offer financing.

The pricing is interesting. Preorder submitted while waiting for the reviews. I have the FLE I but the integrated hood would be nice.

Today Leica released the new edition of the Leica Summilux-M 1.4/35mm ASPH.. Compared to the previous model, the reportage focal length has an extended minimum focusing distance, an integrated lens hood and improved bokeh.

The close-up limit is now 40 cm. This can be realized with the double cam gear unit, which has almost doubled the rotation angle to 176°. Up to 70 cm you are able to use the rangefinder. After you feel a slight resistance, Leica recommends focusing on the extended close-up range between 70 and 40 cm via live view on the screen, Visoflex viewfinder or the Leica FOTOS app.

Eleven instead of nine aperture blades are now responsible for the improved bokeh. The lens hood is integrated directly into the lens and can be mounted and dismounted at any time.

The Summilux-M 35mm is available in black for 5,650 euros / $5,395 and in silver for 5,850 euros / $5,595.

I agree and I was curious if many people jump on the list and then bail when closer, thereby making the list shorter. I have no intention of ever pre-ordering.

I’m assuming they couldn’t fix this without adding weight, size, and cost. I was still hoping for a miracle though. It’s definitely more noticeable using the M11 60MP files.
