The MA is about as close as you can get to the M3 while the MP is just one step off. So all points back to the M3.

I would say that M-A is a modern take of M4-P.

It is like Leica goes full circle here.
M6 is an M4-P with TTL metering.
MP is an M6 with fancier finish.
M-A is a meter less MP.
Which means that M-A is a fancier version of M4-P 😉

And now M6 2022 is an MP with M6 1984 design clues.

Of course M4-P is an updated version of M4-2 which is a « lesser/cheaper » version of M4 which is a « better » of M2 which is a « lesser » variant of M3 in 0.72x VF flavour.

Leica is really going back and forth and back again.

The official launch of M6 for Leica stores, Leica online stores and authorized dealers is November 3rd, 2022.

But they can ship it sooner so we get it on launch day.

If it hasn't bubbled by now it never will. Bubbling is rare in spite of what you may read on this forum and is a result of poor casting or plating in the initial process. When it does occur it shows up fairly soon. However it can occur if the top plate plating is badly damaged which could allow moisture to attack the zinc so usual care is recommended.

That's a bit of a relief! Of course, the internet makes it seem like it's an epidemic, and every 2nd or 3rd M6 has the problem. Mine's from 1986 and the previous owner and I have treated the camera with care and I'll continue to do so.

Given the number of M6, M6TTL and late M4-Ps constructed (well over 130000) the number of reported bubbling is miniscule.

In Paris, France.

Isn’t there a direct flight from LAX? Sit around the cafes, wait for the new M6 rollout and maybe the one you ordered will arrive by the time you get home!

How am I going to cover up that massive red dot on the box?  A can of spray paint?

I was just in Paris’ Beaumarchais store. They said no idea when the camera arrives (they know Leica is shipping FROM November 3rd, no arrivals today which is a day before) but they showed me the list of pre-orders and it’s 17 person long. They also said they will not be putting the first M6 they get in the store display for demo, but will ship every arrival to fulfill pre-orders first. Me, I would have definitely kept one in store and brag about it on the internet so more people would come, test and buy..

Al, this is interesting as the Los Angeles store - as seen above - has already announced they received one and it is on display!  I'd assume.... that Leica would ship more than one camera to a store, but who knows?

Ya know, it really does.  Honestly who would be able to spot the difference from 10 ft away? At that point black chrome and matte black paint look the same..

Does it come with a beanie? At least a couple of hair ties as a nod to the targeted buyer. Us old guys should get a bottle of Asper-cream and a thanks for keeping us alive button.

I called Samy's in Pasadena yesterday to find out if they had heard anything. The guy who answered must have had a crappy day, he was rude. He thought I wanted a steel rim lens, I told him no, I had pre-ordered a new M6. He was clueless, didn't seem to know when to expect even a demo.

I should have ordered it from the Leica store, valet parking. 😀 The "Stores" probably wouldn't wait on me being the fashion disaster that I am 😄.

I remember walking around London, Ferrari window shopping. Crazy wealth.

Welcome to the forum! There’s a fair amount of grumbling but a much greater amount of knowledge.

I'm a frequent viewer, I recognize some of You folks from APUG. Fun topics! I bought my first M6ttl like new with a 50mm Summicron, used from a local Cedar Rapids Iowa shop late 90's for $1,300.00 USD. Like a darn fool I sold the whole outfit for less than half what I will be paying for one of these new ones. 😅.

I have too many cameras, maybe I will be deemed unfit for the new M6 😀

Thanks for the welcome!

Leica will soon be making the baseplate sticker available for retro fitting to all original M6s. Only $500 plus postage. 🙂

The new customer selection process is pretty challenging. Remember that in the Latin alphabet, the second letter of Summicron is a V.
