Actually the differentiation is visible … the APO 35 shows no fringing, living up to its APO designation whereas the 35FLE2 shows the usual purple/green fringing in generous amounts. If this doesn’t bother the photographer, then the choice of having f1.4 aperture is advantageous over f2

Also, APO35 focused down to 0.3M and the 35FLE2 was capped at 0.4M

In the end I kept both the APO35 and the 35FLE2. And I kept a copy of the 35FLE1 out of nostalgia, having sold another copy to part fund the APO35. Some folks love their 50mm’s, I love my 35’s

There's no crime in that - I would have done the same!  😎

Happy workers! South of France.

I was walking around for some street shots, they noticed me and the "boss" on the left paused, I realised he wanted to have their picture taken. The guy to his right was quite shy so I had to react very quickly to capture the expression of the moment and thus decided on the spot that I should not to move closer. So there is a x4 crop ie around 15MP remaining from the M11 file but still ok imho

Magnificent little lens I shall say, forgiving and quite versatile. Strong "technically", yet with its own "character" IMHO.

I usually don't like too clinical lenses, but I actually like this one. I don't think it looks harsh at all, just very natural. Especially together with the M11 it really shines.

Painting some flowers with the APO 35M!

Tack sharp, yet gentle. Strong micro-contrast, but still subtle.

Taken at close distance with the EVF

A random walk on the streets of Brussels, a small sample of the pictures I took "on the fly" with the M11 & the APO 35 M, wide open.

This opportunity was good to remember how the Summicron are excellent street shooters for candids, so compact that I forget I am carrying gear! An engineering feat to pack so much quality in such a small lens IMO. This APO has character, but it needs some experimentation to learn how to deal with it :) I am still at early stages. Last picture is deliberately slightly OOF, I like that with the APO and experimenting it in some contexts.

NB: I am (much) more of a 50mm guy so this 35mm pushed me a little bit outside my comfort zone ie by coming closer to the subject.

Here are a few shots taken with my M11 and APO-Summicron 35mm on a recent trip to London.

The full resolution images are stunning in the amount of detail revealed and micro-contrast. All images processed in Capture One Pro.
