I like to use a simple wrist strap.
I don't like to use a neck or shoulder strap wound around my wrist.
But sometimes when using the wrist strap I would like to get some relief and put the camera on my shoulder.

Is there such a thing as a simple wrist strap (attached to the right sided connector) that quick connects to a shoulder strap?

not inexpensive, and not fast, but a wonderful solution

Having both a shoulder and a wrist strap on a camera might be prone to accidents.

a) You might grab the shoulder strap by mistake and drop the camera.

b) Carrying by the wrist strap, the shoulder strap will dangle only to be caught by something.

Best to use one at a time.

I prefer a soft shoulder strap that one can easily wrap around the wrist to double as a wrist strap.

Thank you; this looks like it's what I want. And from Canada, to boot.

Try the A&A short silk cord shoulder strap, it soft, flexible and much more comfortable to wrap around your wrist than a leather or polypropylene shoulder strap and you can just hang the camera on your shoulder as usual when you don't want to carry it in your hand.

I find that the Artisan & Artist silk cord works for M cameras and offers a good balance: you can wrap on the wrist or use as a shoulder strap. This way, you don’t need the anchor loops dangling from the M or the anchors knocking around. Also wrapping around the lens when you put it away offers a little protection.

The Peak Design anchor system works nicely with the SL2S, where I find myself in need of more variety. For instance, wrist strap for a while, then slide lite shoulder strap, then sometimes I even take a small tripod with the anchors and add a shoulder strap to that.

Not exactly on point to the OP question, but a really small bag like Ona Bowery can serve the purpose you seek if you keep only a wrist strap. You can take it out of the Bowery and put it back as needed.

I use the PD system with my SL2 for its flexibility.  With all my M bodies I stick with the tried and true Leica 14312 strap (recently discontinued… I own several), as it’s light and flexible for wrist or shoulder, even with a small shoulder pad that prevents slippage.

A decision has been made. For now. Please understand that this is subject to change at the drop of a hat - hopefully not a camera. And I fully expect that within a year or two I will own every possible strap option.

As suggested by @augustwest100 a small bag would do the trick and I do own a small A&A bag that I love. But I was looking for a bagless solution.

Re the Harry Benz option, I am attracted to the aesthetics but thought it may not be that comfortable and that it may be "too clever". And I wasn't keen on the metal buckles and connectors bouncing around.

Re the PD option, the Cuff is nice but if I was to use it with a Slide, it would require a connector to be attached to the left hand ring and having it there unused for much of the time would drive me mad.

The reason I said originally that I didn't want to wind a shoulder strap around my wrist was that I was using a Stroppa strap which is a great strap, similar to the A&A silk, but a touch thicker and a touch less flexible. Luckily I am in NYC at the moment so I went into B&H and bought an A&A silk shoulder strap as I do like the simplicity of a single strap for both carrying the camera in the hand and over the shoulder.

BUT now I just have to figure out how to wind it around my wrist. It's not as simple as it looks and there's no way I can get it to look like the image in @Ouroboros's post.

Thank you kindly. I appreciate your vote of confidence.
In regards to my lead times, I am happy to report that I caught up completely with my backlog. Which means, currently lead times are pretty short.
Thanks.

Funny you should mention that as I try my best to wind one side of the A&A until I sort of reach the right side of the grip, but that photo had me thinking the same thing! Maybe there is a way to “double wind” the rope and then loop it at the end? I’m eager to see how that was done in the photo - I’ve always felt my wrist was “the wrong size” or something. But all in all this is my favorite solution for M lenses, and I still do this with the Bowery as well, since I don’t mess with the strap lugs when I can help it.

I’ve not tried one of those rope straps so those may be the best for this, however I do something similar with a simple, supple, leather strap. Works well for me…

Not that the OP needs this now, but for reference, Wandrd makes an excellent wrist strap, very quick to attach and detach. I use it it constantly.

Better than the Peak Design wrist strap? The carabiner on the Wandrd strap doesn't seem functional and would present a scratch risk. What does the little carabiner clip do?

I don’t see any scratch risk from it. It makes it super easy to take the strap on and off. Since I have a number of cameras for different tasks, I find that useful. Pretty much everything I’ve seen from Wandrd beats anything I have seen from Peak so I would expect the same here.

It's a sharp-edged metal object that can easily flop onto your camera or the LCD. I don't see how it isn't a scratch risk. How are the Wandrd items better than the Peak stuff? The Wandrd branding really rubs me the wrong way, so I'm curious what is so great about their stuff compared to Peak.
