To me the most beautiful is the silver M-A. 😜 Of the black ones, I think the black paint looks better when it's clean, but the black chrome has the edge when you use it a lot, as it's more fingerprint-resistant. Between the two mentioned, my vote is for the black paint MP - back in 2003, a black paint MP was my first M camera. But the most beauteous of all is the titanium M-A. 😍 2
aesop Posted August 18, 2022 Share #28 Posted August 18, 2022 ...BP MP - because it looks better with age. After 17 years, one of mine is just beginning to 'cook'.

Both black paint ! 🌞 One of the early M-As where Leica's QC process missed that someone by mistake used the MP shutter speed dial. The correct M-A dial does not have an Off position... There is so little to check on this camera it is quite remarkable how stuff like this gets missed. But as long as they stick in that little hand signed inspection card...

IRRC the MP shutter speed dial needs some filing/tweaking to fit properly on a M-A. Edited August 18, 2022 by JMF
Ouroboros Posted August 22, 2022 Share #36 Posted August 22, 2022 I love the smell of black paint in the morning. It smells of a hole in the bank account. Welcome, dear visitor! kivis Posted August 23, 2022 Author Share #37 Posted August 23, 2022 A few years ago I would have said Black Paint because they brass nicely, etc. But now the Black Chrome has a certain charm.

Yes, this is Special "mimic 1913 user type". Not for everyone 😕. Unlike later LTM Leica, always keep the lens capped, remove the cap only for picture taking, no self capping mechanism in shutter blinds, yet we must push down the shutter "speed" when the small red dot is aligned with the mark, having turned the knob half-way ! The markings are in width of shutter opening "millimeters", "2" = 1/500s ... "10" = 1/100s ..."50" = 1/20s and so on 😁 have a read here ...
