Focus was on the closest flowers, a little under 1 m away, while the trees in the background are 10-15 meters further away.  I like the CL rendering better,

Louis—the inevitable, though obviously highly subjective question and answer: can you compare your Nikon and Angenieux lenses with the Leica ones? Your pictures are always so brilliantly composed and captured that to my old eyes I don’t discern much difference (except that the Leica ones are exceptionally sharp which is to be expected from native glass). Do you find the colors similar and do you process the photos the same way? Thanks.

Thank you very much for your kind comments.

As you have noticed, I am using my old Nikkor lenses a lot. The main reason is because they are faster than my only 18-56 native glass and I love to have a complete control of MF. But of course, they are not very practical for fast street photography. 18-56 is very small with excellent IQ and color rederring, but slow. The old Nikkor give more saturated colors that if you don’t like you can correct in processing.

Nikkor 50mm, f/1.4, is very sharp and I love the range as I am not a wide angle shooter. The Nikkor glass that I really love is the 85mm lens. Extremely sharp. I used it a lot with T, but somehow, Focusing is not as comfortable on CL.

Angenieux was the fastest zoom of its category when I bought it for my Nikon bodies about 30 years ago. It works quite well on my APS-C Leica cameras and when the conditions are good, the result is very good.

All that said, I was very impressed by 35tl that I only used for a small part of 24 hours. The size was well balanced for me. The IQ is amazing and colors really nice. I could also appreciate the fast AF very much. I found the range fine and the bokeh looks very good. If I had that lens, I think it would stay on my CL and T most of the time.

I took this shot through a  store window because of the shades of pastel colors, and once again, I find 35tl doing a very good job.

Great shots and wonderful rendering of the 35 TL Lux. Did you by any chance use it on the T...? Haven't seen anything posted in the T-Forum. Its a monster lens (irrespective of the excellent rendering) on the CL : no problems with haptics and handling? thks, Guenter

Many thks, Louis. Understood. Yes, the lens is more than excellent. A keeper once aquired...

P.S.: allez Les Bleu, can't say this from our team> tomorrow I'll know whether they have to buy return tickets...oh well.

Guenter:

Here are some shots of the T with the TL 35 1.4. (In the next post I'll show the lens on the T body). I do not think there is much of a difference with the TL 35mm on either the T/TL2/CL in terms of its rendering. Obviously the T has fewer pixels but other than that it works well on all 3 cameras.

It is just an excellent lens. I do not mind the size at all, though it is certainly larger than the 23mm, and heavier than the 11-23 and 18-56.

T w 35 1.4 TL lens attached. And, some with the CL as well. The hood is large and makes the lens look more 'burdensome' to carry than it really is.

Rob

Thank you very much, Rob. This gives me nice additional perspective of the size on both camers: T + CL.

Best,

Guenter

That might just be the reasons why Leica already jacked up the price twice...  ;)

I’ve been laid up in a hotel room with a temperature, but I got up for lunch and grabbed two pictures: The bird was just outside a rainy window (taken with the 35mm) and the other image was around the corner from my room from near the elevators (taken with the 18-56 Vario Elmar. The focus seems a bit soft on the lobby interior image but not in Lightroom. Could be having to squeeze things down for the forum.

Mumbai monsoon moods. Being stuck in my room with the flu, this (in addition to the pictures above) is what I did for distraction.

The first was yesterday, the second this morning and the last this afternoon. The season is getting serious though the heavy winds are not here at present. That would make the sea very dramatic with spray from waves coming accross the eight lane Marina Drive.
