CL with 280mm f/2.8 APO-Telyt-R + APO-Extender-R 1.4X . . .

One of the more dimorphic birds (and surely one of the loudest when I want to sleep), the Asian Koel, first a female . . .

I have begun to love the sound.  As a child I remember hearing them in suburban Mumbai when we got up very early in the morning to leave on long road trips - we lived in an area that was wooded and very green at the time.  At the time they sounded slightly ominous.  Years later I now hear them in Singapore and they sound lovely and nostalgic.

Thank you for the lovely pictures, though the bird itself is not as lovely as its voice :-)!

I've grown so accustomed to their early-morning calls that they don't bother me.  When found in pairs, as with the above two, their antics can be humorous at times.

Another delightfully noisy critter with whose sound you are surely familiar:

I'm afraid I'm not so familiar with birds - only an expert when someone like you yells me what they are ;-)
