Over £8,000 invested in the CL system and TL lenses has now gone. Instead I am building a new system around the Sony A7 and it's going very well. I have access to all the things I longed for in a "CL2", can make my own choices about size/weight/quality trade-offs, APS-C vs FF etc., choose from 80+ Sony lenses and a wide range of alternative manufacturers such as Sigma and Voigtlander. The pictures are great. Louis would take some great pics with the combinations I have been testing. I promised when I left I would come back and report on the experience and I will do that once I have given it a good workout. 😄 Edited May 21, 2022 by rob_w

I'm sure you made the right choice for you Robert, and agree, I think Louis will make great pictures whatever he ends up with but have a feeling he will be shooting with his CL for a little while yet. Anyway, after giving it some thought, and being a glass half full type person..I'm looking on the bright side. Now I know there will not be a CL2, I at least will not make the same mistake I made when the Q2 was announced, by following the crowd and flooded market and selling (giving away) my Q, something I have regretted more than a few times, I will just continue to enjoy the CL. I could probably have chosen a better glass to illustrate but its raining now so not doing it again😀 CL +TL 60 Welcome, dear visitor! Rosebud55 Posted May 21, 2022 Share #13686 Posted May 21, 2022 I will be staying as long as my CL functions. Its such a great little camera and such a shame that it has been discontinued. I love it and can’t think of any other camera to replace it…. at least at this time. But I have persisted, and find there are a few things I DO like about the Sony interface more than I expected: the aperture ring is on the lens, and several other dials are visibly labelled as to their setting, such as exposure compensation. These are the two key settings I use all the time so good to be able to see them at a glance all the buttons and dials always do the same thing. I find it confusing when the function of a dial changes depending on the mode the Sony AF is much more capable, and couple of extra buttons helps greatly in setting the AF parameters to ensure the right focus is attained We are all different, of course, and take different pictures. I take a lot of pictures of moving subjects - family events where everyone is chatting and children are running around - so for me fast and reliable AF is important. Judging from the picture threads that is not the same for many of my forum colleagues, where subjects are static, such as landscapes, or portraits are posed even if casual. For the latter kind of pictures I don't see much difference between my CL and my Sony photos ... at least not so far. Not to be contrary but we need to get back to images, CL works for pretty much everything, but I have given up for birds in flight, not sure whether I'm not quick enough or the camera, given others have managed with far lesser tools in the past, it's probably down to me😊.
