Further above, a poster suggested that the "native" zooms are not as sharp as "others". I guess by "others" he meant primes, which is very normal for every camera and lens brand.

I acquired a 55-135 about a week or so ago. I really like the IQ from this lens. Today, I put it on my CL for the second time and  went for a walk. I am posting a few shots from today as samples of this zoom and leave  to each viewer for any judgement. ;)

All with CL and Vario Elmar-T, 55-135

Yes, I agree that the 55-135 is a terrific lens.

But, I'm all confused now about posting 'etiquette'. :) (No T images with CL images, but what to do when the lenses are T/TL lenses . . . .)

These were taken with the TL 55-35 and SL 601 but I've posted here because it seems germane to the discussion.

Beautiful shots, Rob.

Yes, indeed, it is becoming confusing!... I guess to simplify this issue, we should just make a distinction between FF and ASP-C systems as LUF is doing (as does Leica.com in their site) . I really don"t believe that the separation of forums should be done upon lenses since most of us are using different lenses, and third party lenses as myself.

Here, a few more samples from the same day with 55-135 on CL.

Thanks, Louis.

So you'd agree that when the 55-135 (APS-C) is on the SL (FF) it is 'okay', as the resultant image remains APS-C?

I think ( it is only me ) that if a shot is made with SL (FF) and any lens, it is a SL shot. The same goes with APS-C cameras; any lens on apps-c is a Aps-c shot. If we use 55-135 on SL, it is a SL shot. If on Aps-c, it is a Aps - c shot. But again, it’s only me. :)

To complicate the argument, when you put the 55-135 onto the SL, you are shooting with just the 10MPx in the APS-C part of the SL's sensor.  When the lens is used on the CL, it covers the same rea, but has 24 M (smaller) pixels for you to work with.  I think both (carefully labelled of course) belong in the APS-C forum.  It's a friendlier place, besides.

I agree with Louis, if used on a camera with APS-C then belongs in this forum. If used on SL belongs in that forum. Otherwise if we are using M lenses on the CL you could say those images belong on the M lens forum which doesn’t make any sense to me.

Jeez. You guys are obsessed with what camera and lens combination belongs in what category. If I put an R lens on an SL and set the camera to APS-C format, then switch the lens to the CL, then switch the lens to th3 M-D, what category do those photos fit in? What if they all look identical?? Why does it matter??

Enough from me. Except for a photo...

Having had the location/suitability of my posts questioned in both the Mandler lens thread and the CL Macro Thread, and another post moved from an image thread to start a new thread (without my being informed), I now post only in threads where the suitability of my images (and text) cannot be reasonably questioned.  I observe almost on a daily basis that not all members are held to such a standard.

As a viewer, the thread structure doesn't matter so much to me.  On this site I tend to prioritize viewing by photographers rather than by gear. Wherever my favorites post, I will find their images! ;)
