Potential Rangefinder Issue

Today I was using my M9 and I could not get the range finder to work at all. Nothing was showing up. Just a redishhhhh glow. I turned the camera off and back on a few times. It started working again. 

I have a TTartisan 5mm lens. 

 

Could this be the lens? Or is it an issue with the rangefinder?

Update. I am just an idiot. This is my first rangefinder. It was my finger blocking it. lol.

I think everyone of us here in this forum has been an idiot at least once, or in my case many times 😁

Using Leica M is a long time learning journey, nothing wrong with that:

..next would be (frommy experiences) :

- I took sometimes non-recharged battery as backup

- let the lens capped in hurry shot, then waiting the shutter to close

- etc.

Finger blockage and lens cap not removed are two common issues that are non-emergencies and do not require sending the camera in for repair. 

If something goes sideways, there are the first two things to check.
