trequartista Posted July 3, 2022 Share #1 Posted July 3, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello everybody A few months have passed and some Leica M11 Black MUST have smashed their camera already a bit, so I am very curious how the new black finish shows signs of wear and aging? Any images? 😬
Advertisement Posted July 3, 2022 Posted July 3, 2022 Hi trequartista, Take a look here Leica M11 Black Wear. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
opera207 Posted July 3, 2022 Share #2 Posted July 3, 2022 Saw the pic you need months ago, from Jono Slack, but I can't find it now. It's not pretty. So I chose silver. However, according to the feedback from the forum, black is not so easy to wear.

Santos Posted July 4, 2022 Share #8 Posted July 4, 2022 I Have Both Black And Silver Models. Let Me Tell You, The Black Is Indeed Resistant To Scratches! I'm Not Gentle With My Gear. The Silver Battery Scratch Happened On Day Two. And To My Surprise, Turn Out Its A Single Coated Piece Of Alloy (Probably Coated In The Same Factory That Assembled It. Leica Store Offered Me An Extra Battery, Which I Promptly Refused (I Know Ego Makes You Take Stupid Decisions). However, The Black M11 Only Has Scratches On The Grip (Which I Assume Is The Same Material) Since I Use Tripods A Lot. In Conclusion, Its Not Bad! (I Got The Brass Thief Nickname From Getting Everything In Brass. Including A Lenny Kravitz 75mm) . I Kind Of Changed My Mind About Leica Alloy, With That In Mind The Silver Battery With The Hard Plastic Black Borders (They Are Not A Gasket Or Aid In Anyway, I Know For Sure Due To Job/Experience Similar To The Black Ones). You Can Easily Test It Out By Shining A Bright Light And Seeing The Low Quality Coating. But That Is A Tail For Another Day.

budjames Posted July 4, 2022 Share #13 Posted July 4, 2022 I have had my M11 for about 3 months now. I always use the Leica leather half case and Peak Design clips for the neck and wrist straps. It still looks brand new. Regards, Bud James Please check out my fine art and travel photography at www.budjames.photography.

Oh As For The Tripod Don't Worry About The Body. The Only Thing That Has Minor Scratches Is The Grip. It Is Wonderful To Be Honest, Might Be Ugly At First Sight But She Slides Right In The Mount. Making The Process Of Taking A Decent Exposure Faster Than The Security Asking If I Have A Permit To Shoot. 😋

I Use To Say The Same, Now I Only Carry My M11 (Black & Silver) With A Grip/Finger Loop. The Black Grip Is Not That Bad On The Silver by The Way! Turns Out It Is Still Surprisingly Compact With The New Design! (And Hides The Shame Of The No Bottom Plate, I Will Never Get Over That. But Damn That Infinite Battery Is Amazing! But I Know One Day While Replacing Memory Cards It Shall Fall And Instead Of A Loud Clank, The Hiss Of Lithium Timing The Inevitable Will Occur. Never The Less The M11 Is A Magnificent Digital M Bridging Enthusiast and Pro Use Well.)

The challenge is that the chrome finish often does not match the camera... Leica is a bit better about it. except the summilux-M 50 in brass.
ELAN Posted July 5, 2022 Share #19 Posted July 5, 2022 The M11 is my first black M. I’ve had it since the week it was launched and I wear it cross-body everywhere I go. It has never been in a bag and it still looks brand new, not a mark on it. My silver chrome M10-P is more than 3 years old and it too looks brand new. However, upon very close inspection in sunlight one can see a couple hairline scratches and some faint bright spots. On the other hand the hoods of my M lenses are all banged up from bumping into things. The hood of my 28 lux (7 years old) looks like it been to a war, but the lens barrel itself looks new. I thoroughly clean my Leica gear about once a month.
