I have been trolled by some ignored by now members and accused by one mod for this reply at every post "which lens" without details.

Q: "Which lens should I get for low light". And no camera specified.

My reply: You question is irrelevant as long as no media type, camera is mentioned.

Because where is difference between BW film (easy to push)  and color film (no so easy to push). And if you dump question without mentioning film or digital and film BW or color it just irrelevant to have correct answer.

And where is difference between  M9 sensor and M10+. You don't really need f0.95/1.4 under low light with M10+ sensor as you need it with M9/8 sensor.

It is not cool to see what even mod is not able to realize it.

While I understand your point, I'm not really surprised by a poor response to your comment of "You question is irrelevant as long as no media type, camera is mentioned."

Your entire post and this comment comes across as rather arrogant and hostile, whether intentional or not. Perhaps there are other ways to bring across your relevant point, which at the end of the day is also just an opinion.

Have you got a link to a response of mentioned moderator to provide some context?

It is ignorant to post $$$-$$$$ lens question without camera ISO capability details.

It is also arrogantly to not realize what interaction cultures are different by 2022. I have seen East Europe people been ambushed for been themselves from so called Western culture mono profilers.

Perhaps the questioner only wants to know the focal length or what lens created the bokeh or is just curious without technical background.

Nope. The questioner was very specific on shutter speed (with wrong assumptions what f 0.95 and 1.4 are 1/100 to 1/60 difference), with no ISO capability of camera specified.

Your unceasing vigilance does you much credit.

Take the rest of the day off.

For such questions my answer is only „42“.

No, 42 is the answer to the ultimate question. It took Deep Thought 7.5 million years to come up with that answer ... 😎

Hard to understand with no link to this thread but if the question was asked in the M forum i'm not quite sure why the answer should be different depending on the M camera. The obvious (to me) response was choose a lens with a wide aperture i.e. from f/0.95 to f/1.4 or possibly f/2 if you have a modern digital camera. FWIW.

Sometimes people treat forums lightly. Post a slightly vague question without thinking it through completely. This isn't a court of law.

Surely if they asked for a low light lens recommendation, the next post could have simply replied 'for which camera?' Problem solved.

Do you have different lenses for different 'media type'? Impressive if you do.

Q: "Which lens should I get for low light".

As a beginner question I have heard that countless times. The easy answer is not a slow lens, but a lens of F1.8,2 or 2.8. Of course there are many other things to take into account, but it is definitely no stupid question.

On the other hand anyone with a computer and several minutes can ask that question and find answers, which will help them to understand what may be suitable for their purpose of taking images in low light!

As example the first hit on my search:

https://www.amateurphotographer.co.uk/round-ups/lens_round-ups/what-are-the-best-lenses-for-low-light-145162

Any such article are just the writers opinions. So one has to read several such and decide which camera etc etc.

This is not a stupid question but is a difficult one to answer in details, and the devil is in the details.

wow, never in a million years would I had imagined that my question could cause so much anger and upset people.

I wholeheartedly apologise for asking a stupid ignorant question.

And for the context, I shoot with a M11 and yes I know I could use high iso so even a f2 would suffice. But the main point of my question was holding iso constant would the extra 2 stops be advantageous given that DOF is also out of the question. Anyway, I've got the answer I was looking for from some helpful members. But I will keep my newbie beginner ignorant questions to myself (and google) in the future to avoid  wasting anyone's precious time here.

My reply cannot and should not be taken as an angry response to yours. I was explaining how I usually answer what at first seems like a silly question after many years of photography as a hobby I learn something new every time I update or change a camera. Have believed for years with electronics there are no really stupid questions.

My reply was not directed at yours either. But my original thread wasn't asking "which lens to get for low light". I was asking whether the extra f stop would have any benefits since the longer focal length requires a faster shutter to hold. While some people say they can use whatever shutter speed for whatever focal length, I tend to stick to the 1/2f rule for high M11 and 1/f for M10 hence my question. But anyway it doesn't matter anymore.

You shouldn't be sorry. A forum like this shouldn't be hostile to these types of questions.

I haven't read through all your postings, but I don't see how your questions have upset people with exception of triggering Ko.Fe.
