Appmax Posted May 20, 2022 Share #1 Posted May 20, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am looking for a good lens pouch/case. I would prefer leather, but neoprene, etc could also work. I am looking for a pouch which is very small to fit my smaller M lenses (e.g. APO 50) tightly. While padding is nice, I am really just looking for protection from bumping or scratching when transporting my lenses. Light, small and easy access are key for me. I do have the original lens cases for all of my Leica lenses but find them oversized relative to the size of the lens and don’t like the zipper openings as they can be cumbersome to open if in a small bag. Any recommendations?

Anbaric Posted May 20, 2022 Share #3 Posted May 20, 2022 I don't know how tight it would be on your lens, but as far as neoprene pouches go I haven't found anything better than the Zing drawstring pouches, e.g.: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/75801-REG/Zing_Designs_560_102_SPB1_Small_Drawstring_Pouch.html
Robert Blanko Posted May 20, 2022 Share #4 Posted May 20, 2022 I use those for most of my lenses: Lowepro Dashpoint 10. https://www.lowepro.com/global/dashpoint-10-slate-grey-lp36438-0ww/ WATE fits tighly and for a 50 APO you will have some air left, but not much. I was also looking for leather cases before, but they did not convince me (feared that they would open and the lens would crash to the floor when worn on my belt). My 90 f/2.0 Summicron APO also fits, but the small pouch is a little short, while the medium size is way too big. These pouches provide great protection for your lenses, too.
Anbaric Posted May 20, 2022 Share #6 Posted May 20, 2022 (edited) I really wish Zing would get some proper distribution in the UK. I used to be able to buy them from Speed Graphic but they haven't had them for years. At Amazon UK they are permanently 'temporarily out of stock'. I tried a Hama that looked similar, but it's not as good, with a less flexible hem at the top. The Brand X knockoffs tend to have bad reviews about stitching failing quickly, etc. Edited May 20, 2022 by Anbaric
derleicaman Posted May 20, 2022 Share #7 Posted May 20, 2022 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I use small nylon mesh drawstring pouches. You can get them on Amazon relatively cheap. I have them in black and dark gray. I changed out the drawstring to one in Leica red. I put small tags on the drawstring to identify the lens, but you can usually feel the lens inside to know what lens it is. I use a thin beer coozie on my WATE. Here’s some pictures of them Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! cboy Posted May 21, 2022 Share #8 Posted May 21, 2022 I'd recommend the artist and artist pouches acam-60D or acam-61D, or acam-78 leather pouch. All well made in Japan and offer good protection Welcome, dear visitor! Lelmer Posted May 21, 2022 Share #9 Posted May 21, 2022 Neoprene pouches. Small, light, easy to use...and very inexpensive Welcome, dear visitor! ing_rippi Posted May 21, 2022 Share #10 Posted May 21, 2022 I can only underline that. Another advantage is, that with a white EDDING 751 you can then name the different cases according to the lens inside. Welcome, dear visitor! dgc Posted May 21, 2022 Share #11 Posted May 21, 2022 I bought some JJC pouches (albeit for my Olympus lenses) but my M lenses fit perfectly fine in them - here JJC Mirrorless Lens Pouch Bag Protective Case for Canon Fuji Olympus Nikon Sony Lenses, Soft Neoprene Water Resistant Travel Carry Camera Lens Wrap with Carabiner (Interior Size 2.6 x 3.1") : Amazon.co.uk: Luggage I like the way you can flip the top over rather than the cord closure system. I don't use the carabiner. I also liked the Optech neoprene pouches https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B098XB3HSN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s01?ie=UTF8&th=1 Again, I like the flip over tops rather than the toggle system. Maybe they no longer have a distributor here.
romualdo Posted May 22, 2022 Share #15 Posted May 22, 2022 I like the OP/TECH USA foldover pouches (neoprene) I use the type 251 for my smallest Leica (& similar), especially LTM lenses - i'm super happy with these https://www.optechusa.com/fold-over-pouch.html

It looks like they're currently sold out so you anyway have to ping them..

didier Posted May 23, 2022 Share #18 Posted May 23, 2022 I may not answer your question, but most of the time, I don’t use a pouch but a protective cloth. I use them for lenses and bodies as well. I find it more flexible than pouches, and efficient. https://japanhobbytool.com/collections/easy-wrapper

I have a draw full of them and don't use them anymore. the one with the flap are quick to change lenses and the stretch a little so you can fit different M lenses. I usual put them in the pouch in a regular bag, and camera always out.
