I mis-spoke above.  “HDR” = High Dynamic Range.  Regardless, this setting in Apple iPhone camera produces greater detail in the Shadows & Highlights.  I am not aware that Leica offers that in the Q3, and it must be a future Firmware issue.  Again, possibly the Leica’s “Highlight Weighted” is their equalilent to “HDR”.

It's definitely not, it's a metering mode. Both the M11 (in a later upgrade, not from day 1) and the Q3 do offer "Extended Dynamic Range" settings for JPG which you can set to Off, Medium or High. This is still not the same as HDR mode on the iPhone I believe, but probably closest to what you meant.

Hey, Maxpower:

-Thanks!

- I'm going to give Extended Dynamic Range a 'Try'!  Ya Know - A Polarizing Lens [for Outdoors] does much of the same [in a way].  Yet, I appreciated the reply & intend to try that setting for a while.  I was unaware that Leica's 'Extended Dynamic' setting might also assist.  Thanks very much!

Thanks for the Info.  I appreciate it.  I’ve had 3 Leicas, and they all do ‘something’ a little different.  Yet, impressed w/the Q3.  I’m going to give the “Extended Dynamic Range” setting a try.

Note that iDR settings only influence JPEGs. You can accomplish the same results with the raw file in the post.

Leica cameras do not have built-in HDR, where several images at different exposures are combined into one.

You are right...
Than it  must be a problem with the firmware...
I am sure that Leica can resolve this issue with next FW update...

Did they resolve it in any firmware update, here 18 month later? I guess not. Still waiting for the SL2-S update that will bring back the magnifying on the joystick, after they removed it by accident in another firmware update. They promised this almost a year ago. Still nothing...
