One of the people I worked with in the University Theatre Department has made it big. Her name is Carrie Coon and she's been in a number of TV series, movies,  and Broadway plays. She currently has the lead role in the HBO series, "The Gilded Age," which is a huge hit and will likely get her an Emmy nomination. Here are a few shots of her during the time she was working on her Masters degree in Theatre.

Brent -

We're big fans of Carrie Coon and have seen her on stage, tv and film.  She's a wonderful actor and deserves her success.  She's married to the superb playwright (and fine actor) Tracy Letts - We'll be seeing Tracy's latest play in about 2 weeks.

She really is fantastic. They had to be creative with her costume when the filmed the season finale of The Gilded Age. She was pregnant with their second child and it was starting to get pretty obvious.

Tracy is fantastic. They are a potent acting duo. They actually met and had what Carrie described as a "shomance," when they were both in the same Broadway play, "Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?"

We saw that performance - it was wonderful.

When we sold our house (retire, downsize) we sold it to a couple with a 4-year-old son.  The couple are stage actors who had a shomance, too.

Ballet. The trick is to catch the dancer with her legs straight out for this movement. Not easy without a motor drive.

Photoshoot for publicity shots for 'Tom Jones', C18 costumes, tight breeches, heaving bosoms and all.
SL2-S and 24-90SL

Tom Jones plus various wenches, bawds, knowing misses, naive young innocents and just those who like breeches.

Not really a  "meloman" type of music; but this is what we get outdoor in the tropics! ;)

I enjoy working with young actors. Not only do they often have flawless complexions, but you can have fun watching them learn their trade.

All taken with the SL2-S + 90-280SL at rehearsals for a production of Tom Jones.

Learning how to fall in love with someone who isn't your real-world boyfriend:

And, of course, learning your lines mid-scene:

In my quest for some opportunities for the Barnack's monthly theme I entered a church. A group was in rehearsal, so I was free to approach  musicians and singers.

A production of Tom Stoppard's 'Arcadia' by Trinity College Dryden Society. A thought-provoking play, superbly performed by a talented young cast with real chemistry.
These were taken in dress rehearsal.

More from Arcadia.
They were missing the lighting for the dress rehearsal. These were shot by the light of a candle and mobile phones.
The SL2-S at the limit of its low-light capability (ISO 25000): a bit noisy but with good colour. Lens|: 24-90SL.

Lastly, taken from the front row during the last night performance. By this time they had proper lighting.
From the magical last scene when the early C19 merges with the present day.
Taken with the Q2 at around ISO 6400. It can't keep up with the SL2-S for noise and colour much above this level.
