Discomfort with this thread among many of the long-windedtime forumers/Leica loyalists is palpable.  Those of us with a horse in the race (CL owners, for the pedants) should be grateful that @LUF Admin allows such vigorous discussion and expression of less than positive feelings towards Leica, at such length. It's been entertaining, to say the least, to read the divergent views of participants, and somewhat cathartic to express mine.  I'm now content to shoot my CL into its sunset . . . 🙂

Dear Rob, all these discussions and “essays “ are becoming absolutely ridiculous!

I am out of it, and if this kind of attitude continues, I will be out of LUF as well, since I am here for photography and I don’t see any constructive posts that can help me to improve that!

You take it all way too serious, Louis. We are talking about cameras, not world peace. I am not sure why you complain about the lack of constructive posts. You get (rightfully!) more comments and praise than about everyone else on the forum for your work. If a thread like this one bothers you, just don't read it. Problem solved.

This is a strange forum, because it’s paid for by Leica centric people one feels there is a censor hovering around. But this forum, because of it’s premium brand focus, seems to encourage folk who are more seasoned, experienced and mature. So although it’s missing the larger cross section of photographers out there it does have less fluff in general.

Louis, I'm headed in that direction as well.  A huge portion of the threads in the full forum have nothing at all to do with photography.  Most of those that do are full of one-upmanship, "win the internet" discourse, and, as you've pointed out, gear boasting.  Again, credit to @LUF Admin for the openness here.  But, aside from picture posts by certain photographers whose work I admire, there's no longer much that's of interest.

Rob, I am more than grateful to the LUF Amin for his effort of providing us generously a very useful site. But unfortunately, his efforts that I am sure are not easy, are being destroyed by some users and those who pretend to run forums. I have been trying to be helpful as I could but of course, this is only the Internet and as another friend mentioned above, not about world peace! But I am, like you, interested in photography, and it makes me sad to see a fine photography website becoming such a mess!

Could be interesting to compare the Pixii if it used TL lenses or if the CL were a rangefinder but none will stop being what it is i guess so i fail to perceive the relevance of such a comparison if it's not to complain again and again about Leica.

It's not every thread. But I agree that the caliber of contributions when I first joined a year ago was of a higher degree. There's been quite a lot of angst for the brand and their (theoretical) decisions. "I love this camera so much that I now hate the brand for ceasing to produce it, and now I don't know how to feel or act," is how it often reads.

This sea of anguish will pass once it's off people's chests, and, hopefully, those greater contributions will return, and more frequently. Your posts have been thoughtful, and helpful, so I hope you hang around.

I am extremely surprised for the reaction I am getting! The subject was APSC and this camera was just an example. The issue was not discussion about Pixii but alternatives for APSC, and this is not a “double” thread for that!… There are other double threads of this same subjects; and it seems OK!!!

So, if I get it, it is OK to talk about Canon, Nikon, sports cars and Rolex watches in this thread that I started about APSC cameras, but not OK to mention a camera with APSC and a 26 sensor!!!….

Surprising, indeed!….. This thread is becoming absolutely meaningless!…. People come just to show off their knowledge, their gear; and love to write essays instead of posting photos and speaking of the main subject!

It seems LUF is catching the same virus as Leica AG!….

You're right Louis.  If we can not talk about other APSC camera brands or other alternatives to CL - I do not understand.  I can feel that everyone in this thread feels affected that Leica does not continue to make CL.
But we discussing Rolex watches and fast cars.  This is not what a photo forum is made for.  New buyers to Leica will then get the impression that the Leica forum is only for rich people.
I photograph Leica for philosophy - Leica history and their strong belief in quality in everything they do and their simple expression.
I am very interested in what I need after my TL2 - I do not want to keep a system that is not developed and service stops within a few years.

Leica has no alternative now - so therefore other brands are also interesting to me.  But Leica is my story and I keep my Leica M - but Leica L Mount - for now- is out.

Nobody has said it is "forbidden" to mention alternatives -  but for in-depth discussions about these alternatives we refer to existing threads - or new threads in the dedicated forums. In this case the Pixii has been discussed in the Digital forum since September 2021.

Moderators do attempt to keep the forum clear by keeping subjects separated and grouping threads in the proper subforums, moving, splitting and merging threads if necessary to keep discussions clear. However, we do so as little as possible, so we do ask members to use the proper threads, as in this case

Unfortunately, @jaapv, it often appears that certain members can go off-topic at length and with impunity; while in this instance, the thread starter, @Louis, who knows better than anyone what his original intention was, gets admonished for posting ON topic in his own thread!  It's the same thing in the image post threads; certain members carry on idle discussion at length, while others get admonished for making a single post without an image.  Leica User Forum or Leica "Animal Farm"?  (Google Orwell, for the pedants)

I can sympathise with you on this but let me offer you my perspective. It's not only for our benefit but our discussions will benefit future readers of this thread sometimes years from now. A tightly woven thread helps everyone who might want information quickly.

The French Revolution began almost the same way. There is no King here though :D. Just kidding. I can understand that @Louis and other respectable members of this forum do not have the same opinion as Leica and other no less respectable members of this forum about the future of the APS-C format. Point taken. Not sure if repeating it ad nauseam can bring anything useful to the discussion though. YMMV .

I would be most ready to move on if Leica could offer some guidance on rumours of a small FF camera, would save the trouble of jumping in to Fuji, Nikon, Canon etc.

After TL/CL debacle I won’t invest any cent into L-mount alliance.
I am pretty sure that it will vanish sooner than later.
Sales are extremely poor due to many factors : too huge and too heavy bodies (SL2, S1), very high prices (SL2), no Phase Detect (everybody), experimental bodies (fp), Foveon looks like vaporware, lens selection is very poor and pale against younger RF and Z mounts.

I see absolutely no incentive to buy into L-mount instead of excellent RF, Z or FE bodies. They are already mature, have awesome phase detect AF, support both APS-C and FF, wide lens selection (with or without adapter), wide variety of bodies catering most needs.

RIP L-mount. Great idea, poor execution.

For me Leica is now an M mount and Q compact only company. They are the sole drivers of Wetzlar since 2015. Anything else failed.
