Yes, you will, Louis! 😉  I said the same thing in 2015 . . . . . and again in 2017 . . .

But, yeah, their lack of straightforwardness does leave one wondering.  Wouldn't it be great if someone like Mr. Kazuto Yamaki (Sigma CEO) could run the company?  His directness with customers is refreshing and appreciated.

I don’t agree at all with the way Leica AG is run. I do understand that with “cellulars”, the market for APSC is becoming very tight, but cellulars are not for real photographers and APSC are. No cellular can replace any APSC.
Abandoning APSC is not a solution, but improving it, is.

One way of improving it would be to have a full frame L-Mount camera with the form factor of the CL....

@Louis the CL should be rated for 500,000 K clicks I suppose.. just use it till it dies on you! That news sucks! Just mead I am probably holding on to my CL forever! I’d be happy if they’re actively working on something besides the M. It’s boring for non M shooters out here’s 😁

As I’ve said before here, I don’t expect that Stefan Daniels has the balls to make a public announcement about this. He might also consider how to inform owners about the line of TL lenses - how do they get repaired in future? What commitment will Leica make to maintaining a parts inventory for the CL/TTL/TL2 in the future?

On a second point Leica’s real market entry, as opposed to a PanaLeica, will from now on be the $5k+ Leica Q2. This is significantly poor product and market planning, akin to a suicide move. You can only attract buyers who have already built a relationship with brands like Canon, Fuji, Nikon, and Sony to a point where they have lens collections and a familiarity with that brand’s UI, so will be disincentivized to buy into Leica.

Leica is turning into a classic business school case study into how not to run a successful company with a significant brand heritage.

What make me sad In this discussion is that in the meanwhile we are crying for the end of aps-c, some company like Fuji and OM digital solutions (ex-Olympus) officially renewed their commitment for professional aps-c cameras for the years to come, approaching technologies like stacked MOS sensor and sensor stabilization. Here come the point: it’s clear leica doesn’t do research and development, using only third part sensor and being the fight of aps-c done on latest features, obviously they will always arrive later with out of date product, while the FF sensor market is less innovative and more stable.

For the same price? The CL was the entry level camera in the Leica line.
If there were a Sigma camera, foveon or not….

I don't think this changes anything for me - I assumed this was the case. Leica announced it would discontinue the R line in March 2009. What's so different now that they have to keep it a secret?

And it doesn't change my plans - keep the CL and 11-23, 35 and 60 till something better turns up.

Criteria, as always: small, light, high quality, simple to operate. The characteristics of the original Leica.

It certainly does a difference for me !!

Honesty is a prerequisite for running a reputable company.
THANK YOU Louis for saying this so clearly and honestly now Leica official does not have the courage and honesty to do so.

Back to that it's important to me.  I am for small Leica (M, Q and before APSC) My TL2 and my three lenses I will use until I find an alternative.

But it is not easy to find a small camera in that quality.  But then I sell my APSC lenses.  TL2 is already almost worthless purely - economically.

I had otherwise received a good offer on an SL2s in exchange for my Nikon 800E which will never be used again.

I have now decided I do NOT spend more money on L Mount.

Although APSC has been leica's cheapest, it is the system camera I have lost the most money on.

I do not feel confident what will happen to l Mount in the future.  And seen with those eyes, the system is too expensive to play with.

I would not say I do not buy Leica anymore.  I have the Leica M and am very happy with it.

But I will miss an AF solution in mini format.  Maybe it's going to be the M I have and my Leica story is over.  Too bad.

Louis I hope you stay in the system.  If you do not already have M - it is an expensive system to start on.  I would not do it myself unless it was a necessity for my professional work - and it is not.
But I already have M so it's cheaper for me to upgrade.

But maybe Q2 or (Q3) will suit your way of photographing.
I know you will miss the tele option but maybe Q3 with more pixels and a BSI censor will solve it better than other system camera.

And that makes you not so dependent on Leica continuing.  Q is Q and easy to sell without huge losses.

You make such beautiful pictures I enjoy following.

I learned from a contact in Wetzlar, Leica has, indeed, decided to end APS-C line and may come with another L mount camera in the future. But don’t expect it for soon!

What do you mean ? a final CL2 is still possible ? or CL is the last one ?

May be Leica has stopped its former strategy : being the 3:2 aspect ratio company : from 1 inch, cropped m4/3, APS-C, Full frame (24x36) to ProFormat (30x45)

Leica may go back to its original format only, the one they invented : 24x36. If they can make a cheaper and smaller kind of QL instead of CL, it could be ok.

TL lenses will always work on any current and future L-mount cameras. So no worry about their future

the bright side ? CL will keep its value forever, like X2 and X vario.

Nothing in Leica future line up will ever replace them.

Yes. Future classic 🙂 And there’s no sensor corrosion.

All the rumors about Leica ending the production of CL and TT2 became real!

I am still blaming Leica AG for not announcing this decision officially; so some of us could decide earlier about our gear, and maybe, avoid some extra expense.

As far as I am concerned, I continue using my excellent CL as long as it keeps working, but because of their unacceptable attitude, I would never trust Leica company anymore and I will never purchase any other Leica product again!

Sorry folks for the bad news, but I believe I had a moral obligation to share it with you.

Oh gosh, this is a bombshell lol. I just picked up a TL2 which I can still return. I luckily haven't picked up any L-Mount lenses for it yet. The question now is whether I keep it or return it. If they're stopping the APS-C line, it seems like a waste of money right now to be picking up a L-Mount APS-C camera.

Your TL2 is just a useful/capable today as it was yesterday and given the price you got it for, you can use it for a couple of years.   Leica will have to honour the warranty, and chances are you will lose little or nothing if you then decide to sell.  Plenty of used L mount, TL, Sigma or Panasonic lenses around at competitive prices.  I have recently bought a second CL while my original is in for repair, no regrets, it's a great option for many M/R or even other mounts given the right adaptor and will continue to be my perfect travel/everyday companion.

I do see though if you are not already committed to L mount, or have M mount lenses to use then it could give you reason to re-consider, guessing there may be a few on here who will want to know where you will be returning it to😊.

I have been looking for a clean second hand copy of the CL for a while now. If nothing is available, I will be buying a new camera.
I have the S and M already and the CL was my EVF solution without going into the SL system and spending another $20,000 for the lenses.
