Advertisement Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 Hi Louis, Take a look here Rebecca. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
sandro Posted January 21, 2022 Share #2 Posted January 21, 2022 I like the composition and tone, but the image lacks sharpness. When the face would have been sharper, the fiure would stand better against the unsharp background. Lex
Louis Posted January 21, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted January 21, 2022 I know, Alex. I posted this shot because I find a kind of softness due to the lack of sharpness. Maybe I am not right!?
sandro Posted January 21, 2022 Share #4 Posted January 21, 2022 I understand what you mean, Louis, but for me that doesn't work. The lack of sharpness for me doesn't do justice to the expression of the woman. Nut that's just my opinion of course. Lex
RexGig0 Posted January 21, 2022 Share #5 Posted January 21, 2022 Well, it took a moment, but, yes, I like the effect of this kind of softness/un-sharpness.

tritentrue Posted January 23, 2022 Share #7 Posted January 23, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Louis, I love this photograph! It reminds me a bit of some of the work of the late Bill Cunningham, my all-time favorite photographer. No one gets more out of the CL than you, Louis; and I especially enjoy following how you go with such ease from technical excellence to artistic captures like "Rebecca." The many great photos you and others share here are my main reason for visiting this website. 2
Louis Posted January 23, 2022 Author Share #8 Posted January 23, 2022 Thank you so much; you are very kind, dear friend. Like yourself, I love photography; and, I learn a lot from everyone by participating in this kind of forums. Your kind words are a great encouragement for me to keep going. All the best. RexGig0 Posted January 23, 2022 Share #9 Posted January 23, 2022 (edited) Rebecca’s face, her vest, her purse, those exquisite trousers, and, of course, Louis’ vision and skill, are what make his work. This was not an “accident.” Edited January 23, 2022 by RexGig0
Louis Posted January 24, 2022 Author Share #10 Posted January 24, 2022 Rex, thank you. I was using the wonderful and old manual Nikkor 85mm, f/1.8 that I always loved, but now, rarely use with digital cameras. According to some, it is one of the best Nikkor lenses. It is very sharp (when focussed) and usually has a very appealing bokeh. As a test, I tried to have a "soft" image by not going after sharpness and asked Rebecca to slowly cross the street to see what kind of picture I can get. I know it can't please to many photographers and maybe, I shouldn't have posted in a photography site; but, I found the result quite interesting and wanted to see what other folks may think! Guest Posted January 24, 2022 Share #11 Posted January 24, 2022 On my Asus screen, the image looks way too hard edited. The beautiful model's facial expression tells me that she disagreed with your photograph.

CL + Nikkor 85mm - f/1.8 AI Sorry, Louis - this image doesn't do it for me at all. Normally, I don't bother posting if I don't like an image, but this one stood out. When I look at this on my MacBook Pro, all I can see is artefacts. What did you do in post?
david strachan Posted January 24, 2022 Share #13 Posted January 24, 2022 Yep...sorry Louis. Very hard face. You usually have such beaut pics, a slip up here I'm afraid. All best, please don't be offended

stuny Posted March 28, 2022 Share #19 Posted March 28, 2022 It could be that the slight lack of sharpness helps make her face look more youthful.
