But you have to like the boxy look. It just doesn't fit me, so I chose hadley small pro, which has about the same capacity but totally different style. it just looks boxy, but in actual use it is not. it hugs my back perfectly... the designs of the backside of the bag make sure of that (no compartment).

Franka373 Posted November 29, 2022 Share #242 Posted November 29, 2022 I have been using this bag for about 14 years with the M and 3 to 4 lenses. Plenty of pocket space too. I cut the label off the flap. Very low key and it has held up well. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/560313-REG/Domke_700_00B_F_10_JD_Medium_Shoulder.html

The lid doesn't wrap around down the sides. What are your thoughts on this? I live in a dusty and sandy place so maybe I'm particularly sensitive. I use a Cecelia Tharp 8L in Chestnut Leather. A nice bag when it goes on slale with large discounts, which it does often. It's not built tough and its not hard wearing leather. My Billingham Hadley Fibrenite is a lot better, but just too large for my M kit... Edited November 29, 2022 by hmzimelka
Franka373 Posted November 29, 2022 Share #244 Posted November 29, 2022 That’s a good question. I do not have your experience so I have never considered it. Domke makes a similar bag with a zipper but that does not appeal to me because the zipper may damage things. I think it’s a metal zipper. If not metal it may be okay. It would just be another step to get into the bag. What I like about my bag is it’s so easy to get in and out of it and the Velcro flap doesn’t bother me and if someone was trying to get into the bag for nefarious reasons I would hear the velcro. I wear the bag across my chest so it stays pretty much in front of me. I rarely use the clasp.

I don’t think I’ve gone through a downpour, but basic rain in Paris and Madrid was fine. The smaller bag I have is supposed to be rain proof I believe.

I just got the bag a couple of months ago, and haven't experienced rain yet (or high humidity weather). Mine is the leather version, so will probably not handle rain so well... I'll just do what I can to protect it from water.

derleicaman Posted December 9, 2022 Share #251 Posted December 9, 2022 I have been following this thread with great interest, even though I have several M10 cameras and not an M11. For bag purposes, they are pretty much the same animal. I have used a number of Billingham bags in the past, and still have several of them. My current faves are FOGG and Brady. FYI, Brady is the inspiration for Billingham, and Billingham worked for them before going out on his own. I use the Brady Ariel Trout small. I have been associated with FOGG since the late 80's, when I was one of the few US dealers for them. This was when I had my retail store. My current favorites are the b-Sharp and Satchmo. The b-Sharp is good for 2 M bodies and several lenses. The Satchmo is better for one camera and a couple of lenses. I also have a Last Waltz and e-Flat for bigger loads. Yes, I am a bag junkie! FYI, as most of you know FOGG only has two employees, bee berman and Nigel Fogg. Unfortunately, bee passed away suddenly back in August. I did not find this out until recently. Jono Slack is very close to Nigel, and tells me Nigel is having a very hard time since bee's passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to Nigel and wonderful memories of bee. If you have a FOGG bag, treasure it. If you are interested in them, now is the time to get one.

I’ve had a lyre and b-laika Fogg bag for over 20 years, back when they were smaller and came in all-deep-black materials (and were much less expensive!). They have seen a lot of travel, and are well worn, but have held up well. Earlier this year, however, based on no particular need, I decided to contact bee to discuss making another b-laika, but with a custom top handle (adding one to my existing bag was problematic). She and Nigel were happy to comply and made the change without any additional charge. They also decided, as a result of our email exchanges, to delete the small French flag label that they had started to put on their bags since my last purchase decades ago. They agreed that it was too flashy on an otherwise discreet bag that I again wanted. bee and I had a humorous exchange over the issue, as she said that she and Nigel already had robust debates on the topic. I was of course very saddened to hear of her passing, not long after, and will always remember and feel fortunate that I decided on a whim to reconnect with her and add another nice Fogg bag. I have just one Fogg bag - the Last Waltz. I was able to communicate with bee several times to fine tune the details of the bag before she and Nigel went to work making it. bee's passing is a shocking loss to those of us who treasure the beautiful, well made camera bags that she and Nigel created as a team. It is heartbreaking to know that Nigel is struggling so terribly in her absence. Edited December 10, 2022 by Herr Barnack 1
thrid Posted December 10, 2022 Share #254 Posted December 10, 2022 (edited) I have two Billingham bags that are near and dear to me. The L2 and large Hadley. I've had the L2 for about 25 years and the Hadley for roughly 15. They have been all over the world with me through sunshine and rain and are terrific. Worth every penny. But here's the problem. When the Bellingham are new they look exactly like what they are. An expensive bag. Even more so if you get them in certain color combinations. It's not a problem if you are headed to Beverly Hills or some other upscale location, but considering the state of the world these days I'm not so sure I would want to carry one around more pedestrian locations, let alone an economically less fortunate area. Especially if they are filled with tens of thousands of dollars of camera gear. At this point both of my Bellingham are pretty beat up, so it's less of an issue, but when they were new it was obvious that they stuck out like a sore thumb in anything but an upscale area. For the L2 that was 25 years ago and the world was a very different place and less of an issue no matter where you were. Ironically the Bellingham bags are so well made that it takes many years of continuous use without pampering, for them to actually show wear. I swear that it took a good 10 years of heavy use to really take the shine off them. And they still don't look like a beat up Domke. In any case for most of my excursions I have switched to a low key waist pack. Safepac makes some nice models with anti theft features. I've added some homemade padding and compartments and a medium size pack can hold two M bodies with 2-3 lenses and batteries etc without a problem. I can put it on my waist (which saves my back) or strap it across my chest, sometimes under a jacket for extra concealment or protection from the elements. I hate to say it, but this is what the world has come to and safety is something that has to be taken serious. The criminal element is a lot more sophisticated than it used to be. They know brands and the associated value. Ask a Rolex owner in London, New York or Los Angeles and they will tell you all you need to know. In some cases I have taken the simplest route. I simply put two lenses and batteries in my jacket pockets and call it a day. I went to a VII Photo course and met Gary Knight, who is a seasoned photojournalist. He carried his M body strapped diagonally across his chest under his jacket with an extra long homemade camera strap. You didn't even know he had a camera and two lenses on him until he took a shot. Following his lead I added extra pockets to the inside of some of my jackets and it works like a charm. In some ways it beats lugging around a bag... As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! I just purchased a new bag from this new line of camera bags called https://redtalecrafts.com Apparently a collaboration between Red Tale Crafts and RocknRoll ( the well known camera strap company) *The bag was shipped to me from Cyprus. I purchased their HAVANA BAG LARGE – CHARCOAL specifically because I don't think this bag looks like an expensive bag out-of-the box and a rugged/manly/comfortable look ...to me. I don't think I'll worry about a stain or scratch or three, on this bag. https://redtalecrafts.com/product/havana-bag-large-charcoal/ This bag comes in both small and large sizes. I chose the large size for more flexibility to include packing the M11 plus SL2 which is a typical carry kit for me. The bag doesn't have a lot of padding so feels fine when carrying a large bag with minimal gear. I think the slim padding is sufficient some may feel other wise. Makes for a very light weight bag. Note: Comes with a separate top handle that also doubles as a trolly handle Edited December 10, 2022 by LBJ2
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! ianforber Posted December 12, 2022 Share #257 Posted December 12, 2022 I too often use my camera diagonally across my body so that it is partially obscured by my jacket. Has anyone used the COOPH photo jacket and, if so, is it any good for stuffing an M with a small lens into the pocket?
