Leica M10 firmware Update (being done to mount the new Visoflex to an older M10).

(I’m reposting this here in a busier thread),  I had really hoped, even expected, that this firmware update for the M10P would include what I’ve been waiting most for. That is, the option to tag one’s own unindexed lenses in a favorites listing. I thought sure this feature would arrive in the update. I was sure I saw that being listed as a feature of the M11, but after reviewing it’s user manual, and can’t find it mentioned there either.

Basically, we will get the same resolution as the first Visoflex, only exterior different?

No not at all.  It is not limited to a new exterior only when used on an M10x body. I have both and the new one is close to the experience you get when mounted on an M11.

I must say that my experience is based on using both EVFs with glasses.  I cannot see the whole frame through the 020 model, but perfectly through the new Visoflex 2.  Also the image through the new one is cleaner, brighter and sharper, and as I said close to what I get on the M11.   For my type of use it is a significant upgrade.

As a spectacle wearer that's good to hear and what I was hoping for. Annoyingly, having waited two months for the firmware I'm now overseas for a month without my M10-R so will have to wait to find out for myself.

This is what David Farkas says : “Given the perfect blacks of the OLED display, there is no visible or distracting unused area so it's perfectly usable and might be worth the overall increase in image quality.”

That is exactly my experience.  And when wearing spectacles a smaller image is a lesser issue than a larger one through the same “view hole”

Well described. I am wearing glasses and the difference between the previous and the new EVF is quite satisfying .
The image is much sharper with good blacks.  You can focus easier because of the better quality  of the led technology used on the new EVF. Much happier than I thought I would be.

The Viso 2 looks sharper with a smaller image (less magnification) than the 020.  With greater contrast dialing in focus is a tad easier.  This is splitting hairs, but it all adds up.  In use I don't feel I need to remove it when putting the camera in a bag, it feels more solid and the shorter height is a welcome reduction.   As much as these viewfinders have improved the rangefinder continues to have a clarity that is unmatched.

Wondering if the visoflex is available anywhere at all. I placed a pre order for one in Australia in March. 2 months later, I’m still waiting.
I read somewhere that the initial batches had issues with dust getting inside, not really that or the manufacturing/supply chain issues are the reasons for the unavailability of these viewfinders.
