Last year my daughter studied for a semester in Monterey, California to finish her master's degree in teaching English. My wife and I visited her there, of course, and took another little round trip from Monterey to San Diego via LA (Hollywood), Santa Barbara and Barstow. Barstow because I heard that there is a railroad junction there and Route 66 is still distinctly recognizable there. After I read up on Route 66 and the possibilities near Barstow on the Internet, we also had to go to Amboy. There I was able to convince my wife and daughter not to drive right back to Barstow, but to enjoy the sunset in the Mojave Desert. At the same time, I was able to convince my daughter to take another fun picture. Unfortunately, at that moment a drone photographer came along, who parked his car in the unfavorable spot for me, which I unfortunately only noticed too late, because I fully concentrated on the picture as such. Fortunately, I was able to make one last picture without car, but unfortunately the feet are missing here, so it is not 100% perfect. The fun was but and she is always happy to be able to show that photo acquaintances. Since I do not like to post pictures of children, because they can not defend themselves in my opinion and who knows whether they would have really wanted it in 20 years, I have only now obtained permission from her to show it in the Leica Forum. I hope you can see the fun we had in this really unique location. As a third and fourth picture I have added the side where the sun went down to this portfolio. We have never seen such a sunset in our whole life. It was more than impressive and today hangs a picture of the series that photographed there on one of our walls (in a size of 1.2 m and really everyone who looks at it more closely is amazed at this spectacle. In the four hours of waiting there was only a second family that tried something similar. All others (even Leicafotografen) are mostly already left after 10 min, what a pity!
By the way, the pictures were taken with the Leica M11 and the Summicron M 2.0/50 (V). Although I still own the Leica Apo Summicron M 2.0/50 Asph, but had concerns to take it with me. Fortunately, the regular 50 didn't let me down and showed what it's really made of. The images are much crisper in the original. After these photos, I knew I would never have needed the Apo, but the "want to have" had simply captivated me. Today, I know that all I really need to travel is the Leica M 11 a regular 50, a 21 and the Leica Q(3).

Thanks for looking and reading!

Lovely story and thanks for sharing.  I would just use the clone tool or content aware tool to remove the car from the first image 🙂
