(Referring to #621): The image above, for example, is definitely not one that I should have shown.  It does not do justice to either the very great M 11 or the wonderful Voigtländer Nokton 75 ASPH. I have not reworked this on the small iPad, but on the larger computer. It was taken at open aperture and full backlight with 1/2500 s (ISO 64). In Lightroom Classic I get the colours better, I can also remove the CAs well, and the result is an image that I like very much.

Can I ask how that was focused (rangefinder/EVF/Focus peaking)?

It is SO beautiful there - you are extremely fortunate to live in such a beautiful location!

I am from Ukraine, just on a trip in Finland for a few days. That is really marvellous place. It is should be on a bucket list to see northern lights in Finland. And people here are one of the kindest that I have ever met.

ISO 400 F5.6 Macro Elmar. B&W conversion has plus to reds oranges and yellows and minus to greens. Sky selected and given minus exposure, plus contrast and plus dehaze. Vignetting added. So basically, buggered around with quite a lot!

Very nice image.

I'd be curious, at 100%, how cleanly resolved are the individual branches of the central tree (or the background ones)?

Even on my 100mp medium format, sometimes such fine detail can get a little mushy / confused / harshly defined, but wondering if the Leica lens (ie, the Macro Elmar has a very good reputation for a 90mm in terms of sharpness) helps here?

Scott you have this dialed in can you tell us your lens?  I am seeing such different results and it has to be due to the various lenses people are using.  Your results are what I would hope for.  thx

That one was with the M Summilux 28.  If you click on my posts you will see the EXIF details and full(er) resolution version hosted at Flickr.

Jon, that's nota great file to ask this of because I bracketed a series of focusses on the near middle and far trees. So just for you I have another one, taken at a slightly different time, but which I know was focussed on the far tress and which I know was at F5.6.

I am adding it to the RAW Files access thread now. I'll be interested to know what you think.

I like how the M11 sensor and metering behave with the sun just outside the frame.
