Mine came today. I took a series of shots with it on my Sony A7Rii, distant and close, mostly at f/5.6-8. Then put it on my M2 and checked the viewfinder against several aerial images. Infinity seemed a hair off, but the images were on target and sharp  wide open, so I'm quite happy. Build seems very good, and focusing is really smooth. I haven't yet compared it to my 28 Biogon, but from today's quick tests I think this little lens is going to see a lot of use. My only regret is that it isn't available in an LTM mount, as I would love to use it on my Barnacks given its diminutive size and design.

I received yesterday night the lens.
I took a few pictures in my living room, so there is no shooting experience yet. Meanwhile, first quickly viewing and handling impressions: I like the building; it feels substantial in my hands. It's so tiny (w/o hood) that there is no VF blockage at all, which is impressive for a 28mm focal length. Indeed, the 'view' through the VF is vast, making the composing experience even better. The hood is horrible. I don't like the shape, it turns by itself quickly, and it's not easy to put and remove. And it arrived with the paint fell off in some part, lousy quality. I guess it will stay in the original box for all these reasons. The focus is smooth, and the infinity lock is adorable, like my 35/2 LLL. I'm busy in the following days, but I will go out and shoot once I have a chance. F8 and be there, you know!

P.s. I forgot: I'm still in 'shock' being my first silver chrome lens  But being tiny and with some black matte tape, I guess I can live with it.

My feelings too!  I tried one a couple of months ago and have now managed to buy it from the person who loaned it to me.

Even included was the paint loss on the hood 😂

I guess you can't get everything for $300. But I would prefer 100 times a sharp/modern tiny lens with a lens hood paint loss, rather than a perfect aesthetics lens w/ focus shift 😂

Anyone considering the 7artisan version? The fact it's in black suggests that maybe TTartisans won't do a black variant unfortunately which is why I held out hoping TTartisans would issue a black version too ....very similar lens grouping 7/4 vs 6/4

I know what you mean, Dennis. FWIW I bought one of these just to see if it would be any 'better' than the one supplied;

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/123807639896

Pro's; it screws in! This also means I can hold my camera as I normally do without the fear that the hood will pop-off and fall into the Thames...

Cons: It isn't as effective in its job, obviously, because the hood supplied is tailor-made for the lens.

So far I've used the 'correct' hood more frequently. I don't find that it gets in my way when in use and it hasn't fallen off......yet.

Have fun with your new lens; I love mine!

Philip.

Thanks! I found this one on Amazon Mexico: https://www.amazon.com.mx/dp/B085TKRPVF?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_dp_DXSB3VP194VS7X621R0P

Not sure if it's the same but it will work fine being a vented 37mm hood. I will give it a try.

Anyone else notice the TT Artisan post on Instagram?  A black ‘brassed’ version of the 28mm f5.6 is on the way.

Haters are going to hate, but it sure does look nice.

Can you post a screenshot? Not everyone is instagramer 🙂. Been holding out to get a black version. Brass is a bonus!

I would prefer, w/o doubt, the black version instead. All my lenses are black, and I recently bought the silver because it was the only version available. Still happy.
But seeing the IG picture above makes me think about two things: I hope it will not be like the low-quality material of the hood, which instead of patina, the painting is literally falling off. Second, someone in the factory works like Steven with the sandpaper to make the patina effect.
It's not just marketing. I would not buy a new but already worn lens. Just saying.
